I spent the last week in and around Eugene, OR. Despite the incredible heat and drought, it was pretty beautiful...

Looks stunning hollows.
Is the little stone building a hill fort? there's something similar on a trail near my neck of the woods called an Istrian Kazun it was a gift from Croatia built by Istrian dry-stone masons. They were all the rage around 18-19th century. Edited by Double 0 Soul - 06 Jul 2015 at 12:55pm |

@Double0, the forest service marker in the first pic is at the top of the stone fort thing, it's an observatory for the peaks listed on the marker. It was made by the CCC from volcanic stones from the huge lava field it sits in. Each of the windows on the lower level points to one of the peaks.

its a path true the fields with ponds and mut sand puddles and such. It,s pretty cool you don't know how deep you go, but its safe      |
