Mr, and Mrs F, hereby voted best couple on the board.
Cowichan, I didn't realize they had a name. Kind of an odd one, I wonder what the etymology of it might be. Lands End Canvas had a nautical themed one this winter. I considered it, but I just couldn't justify another sweater.

Yesterday my jeans took the day off from work and went to Presque Isle peninsula in Erie PA. Forecast was for temps near 80, but the lake is still 43 degrees, so the wind coming out of the north across the lake made things chilly! The two beach umbrellas we bought to block the sun wound up being used to block the wind. Things were calm for about an hour and I could take my denim jacket off, the rest of the time I was bundled up. Still, was nice to hit the beach in March and get some sun. NWPA gets the second least amount of sunny days in the US, so we appreciate every one we get!

My Jack Knife jeans and my wife just got back from hiking around Big Sur. Starting to get some subtle signs of wear. Sorry, no pics. My relatively new camera took a dive, cracked and will be headed back to Edison, NJ to the Fuji camera hospital to get it repaired. This coming week we are off to Joshua Tree to met an artist and to hike in the park.

Hanauma Bay:
![]() ![]() ![]() Then to Waikiki. On the main drag, Kalakaua ave, the poshest stores are clustered along the western edge near the hotels that cater exclusively to a Japanese clientele. The people-watching here can be extraordinary. Near dusk, wealthy Japanese families materialize seemingly from thin air in their finest and costliest apparel. The mothers head towards Tiffany, Cartier or Prada at the very western end of the avenue. Their daughters venture farther east to the specialty boutiques and the Duty Free mall. Salaymen husbands wind through the maze-like specialty malls to Pipeline Leather or Western Classics to try on White's boots, Redwings or hellishly over-priced vintage denim at Spark. The best place to step into the fray is at 88 tees. A T-shirt from 88 tees is apparently one of the most sought after items fashionable, well-to-do Japanese teenage girls can return from the islands with. The store itself is rather unassuming, just a tiny door to one side of a Cold Stone Creamery with a few small signs pointing up a staircase. The upper windows are painted black and show no interior view from the sidewalk. The smallish shop upstairs is always a mad-house, with hoards of teenage girls pawing through the tightly packed aisles of printed and bejeweled t-shirts. On the street Japanese teenagers rarely acknowledge non-Japanese folk, and will almost never make eye or body contact. In 88 tees all bets are off, however. A 75 pound Japanese girl in a Tori Birch dress will body check you right out of the way to gets the last black metal-studded Yaya hula girl T-shirt in size Xsmall. They still won't look you in the eye though. They have an extremely strict no photography policy which has been killing me for years. Finally I talked the owner, who is awesome but very hard-core, into letting me take two photos of her, and I also snapped one illicit photo of the interior sign over the door as I exited. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going to make every effort to make 88 tees popular with denim heads, for perversity's sake alone, and to that end a few denimbros should keep an eye on their mailboxes in the weeks to come. 88 tees sounds really interesting, I love how the shirts are all worked over. I'm keep staring at those dolls on the top shelf. Are those a traditional thing? Thanks for the post, looks like fun.
