Strange times for registring after years of lurcking only.

I surely have buy some stuff to quasi every member here (on ebay, grailed...)

Well I'm definitly old school, straight razor shaving and restoring them, idem for mechanicals watches and so and so. (I've got many complains from wife and childs)

I've got a VERY large collecting that I ve begun in 2004 (I was on fedora lounge then) firstly I buy a lot of vintage leather jacket from the 30 and 40...and I've meet the man behind "LE ZOUAVE" that live in my hometown, and secondly Arnaud the man that is behind "MISTER FRENCH CANCAN" He lives in the same neibourghood, about 30 km. With him I discover FREEWHEELERS : the worm was in the apple.

All is said LOL

Due to the COVID I have to stay at home, time to spend,

Best regards

Welcome, Chas. It'd be nice to see some razor related stuff. I have a decent collection of safety razors (mostly Gillette). Never went all the way & into straight razor territory. Do you use one every day?

Hi folks. It's been awhile, and I've just been catching up on what's been going on here over the last 5-6 years. Looks like the handful of posts I made back in the day were lost in the purge. So, just as a refresh: my real name is Jared and I hosted one of the Harris's Denimbruin events in my SF warehouse in 2014. I've been buying/selling vintage (mostly denim, but other stuff too) as a hobby since I was a teenager in the early 90's in San Jose, CA. For a minute in 1996, I worked at a Savers in Utah and spent my lunches pouring over Farley's "Wanted In Japan" magazines in the break room.

When I worked in offices, I could justify my clothes obsession somewhat. But, I've been a furniture-maker for the last 19 years, and its hard to feel comfortable subjecting vintage or $300+ jeans to the risks of an errant varnish slosh, a belt-sander bite, or a welding spark. And, my collection has been culled quite a bit over the years. When I was in Brooklyn in 2006, my workshop was directly above Stella Dallas at N. 6th/BQE... and, whenever I was short on rent, I'd clonk an old suitcase downstairs and unload a bunch of treasure. (Does anyone else have fantasy dreams about having all the vintage they regretfully sold returned to them at once and just swimming in it?)

So, I'm a bit on the periphery now (the selvedge I abuse everyday is probably a curse word around here) but I still collect and will never not have an insatiable passion for denim. For example, when I honeymooned in Japan in 2016, I dragged my poor bride to every vintage outpost I could get to. We joke that we spent most of our time in Japan looking at American vintage (or, scouring the flea markets for boro). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway... I've met a bunch of you good folks here and there IRL, so -hello again! Glad this place is still going. It's hard for me to participate much, but this is just such an incredible repository of knowledge and fascinating stories. I'm looking forward to getting caught up, bit by bit.

1997: still holding out for another score like this

Thanks to mr randall for commissioning one of the best photos I've had taken.

A bit of the Harris collection at our place (wish I'd gotten more pics!)

Honeymoon stop into Fake Alpha... never seen so much Levi's deadstock anywhere at once:

Thanks! I'm pretty sure that one was shot by my buddy Benjamin Grimes: https://www.instagram.com/benjamin_grimes/

Hey rust! Nice to see you, how’s Stockton treating you?

That was indeed Ben Grimes at the lens.
