2 years back, I turned a few friends on to a mining system- that I was never going to go in (we don’t repell down shafts)
They ended up finding a major Levi puzzle piece-from what I think is the 1876 time period ( I believe the mine started sometime in1875) Unfortunately this piece went under the knife back in the day, so what’s left of the pant is most of the waistband- both front pockets- the fly and no back pocket. For the first time- I got to see a readable Levi label from the mid 1870’s—- It’s changed what we know It looks that, maybe as early as 1874- Levi leather labels had (every pair guaranteed) Sometime in the 1880’s the label changed from saying duck and denim pants to duck and denim clothing (The LVC wording label always says duck and denim clothing) Sometime in 1887- the white labor white women factory on Fremont street opened- the factory was- in what was called the Donahue building-the Donahue building was being constructed in 1885-86 and by the end of 1886 it was complete and the first tenant moved into the building ( the first tenant was named and moved into the building November of 1886- and it wasn’t Levi Strauss) This is how we pegged Levi starting their new factory sometime in 1887 Levi has in their archive a 1887 XX factory pant with blank shank buttons and it has the wording label still intact I’m not sure what’s on the label- but one thing is clear- in somewhat big letters, stamped diagonal across the patch is the words ( white labor only) You might recall we found a double pleated 1 pocket Levi jacket that had the same label that I described- I thought our jacket at the time was from the 1889 time period when most likely it was from the 1887 time period. We know now that the 2 horse brand label was trademarked in California- February of 1888 and this is when we think the 2 horse brand was first being put on pants- the old information still stands when it comes to the 2 horse brand progression- when the 2hb first started- every pair guaranteed was no longer on the label- it looks as if lot numbers and every garment guaranteed was put back on the label- sometime in 1894 So some of my information given early on in this thread (is wrong) Levi’s kid duck pants are older than we thought and Leather labels did say every pair guaranteed up until- most likely 1888 Edited by Sansome - 05 Nov 2019 at 9:25am |

Hey all, I recently found what I believe to be an LVC Type 2 at the flea market. Cardstock patch in good condition, big E, selvedge around the inside edge, silver buttons with no numbers, and the panels are slightly irregular in colouration. Any ideas what collection this could be from? I'm erring toward Made in Japan.

Right now I am selling an early type Levi‘s LVC Type 2 Lot. 507 Jacket SOLD! Any infos in addition to mentioned in listing would be appreciated, thank you. Only thing I remember, got the jacket +10 years ago, but I forgot the determining factors... (getting older or better simply handled to many items all over the years).

I have noticed that in Europe during this last year Levis shops have started to carry "Levis Premium Edition" line with big E red tabs. Also Levis Made & Crafted have started to use blue tabs with big E.
They are messing with us...

Ok these were the only photos I could take. Then the lady approached and she remembered me.. A strange big E trucker jacket. There were other big E premium edition available items Sorry for the bad pic. Cell phone is not good for closeups.
Price 110 euros. On Sale today 65 euros. Color of patch is brown Searching the internet I found the Premium edition items but no official information. |

Just to let you know. I went to the outlook store which is the half than what it was last time I visited the place .No big E items available. (Actually they never had big E' items for sale). Everything almost out of stock.
i spoke to the lady there. She told me that the last time they supplied the store with items was 6 moths ago. So that means almost nothing available.. Hope they will be there the next time I visit the outlet. Maybe tomorrow, definitely next week I'll visit the store in Athens down town. ![]() |

They have inner labels. I did not check for the patch if it was leather or card. Did not see any hidden rivets. Seemed that stamped numbers on buttons were 4 digit. Couldn't clearly see
I must go and check again wearing glasses. i have to tell that (I do not wear glasses for reading etc) but store is a little bit dark inside as all Levi's stores.

Do they have inner labels? Are the patches leather or card? Do any of them have hidden rivets?

I know what you are talking about. There were never big E items officially for sale in this country.
Only accidentally between other items. I will be back with more information. I will also check at an outlet store trying taking some photos. Levi's has closed its plant here years ago and offices are closed 2 or 4 years ago. Items are imported by authorized independent importers. from all over the world They also import other brands. Other brands of course are not for sale in the same store. So you can find from everything to nothing. Prices sometimes are very high and sometimes items are almost free. So I avoid chatting with sellers because they start learning and then the prices go up. I remember years ago I had a chat with a guy there an then he asked me if i was interested getting hired to check for fakes and so on. So i prefer not to talk to them but i was surprised this morning.

And they are no items from the Levi'S Vintage Clothing line? Levi's own repro line?
Because those come with a big E and maybe they are getting rid of old stock? Were they on sale or regular price at 60 €? |
