Some photos I've been meaning to reshoot and post for a while. Some I found thrifting in SF or Guernville, I think robbie might have sent me one or two of these.
Not the clearest photo, but check out the denim on the guy on the left. Look at those cuffs! No date. I'm guessing from around 1950. No date, but guy on left looks to be wearing a USN dixie cup cap. '30s/ '40s? Post WWII? No date. Not workwear, but such a nice shot. Dated Aug. 27th 1930.

I believe this is a regional magazine distributed by Monsanto, ADM or one of the major farm brands, I can't rightly tell. Would love to find more copies of this magazine though, sort of a 'LIFE' for farmers at least from the looks of it. I think I have the rest somewhere, will try to scare it up. I clipped the cover as it has a Coca-Cola ad on the reverse side. |

I dig seeing what kids were wearing as well, dressing like little versions of the grown-ups. I remember always being poked at for dressing like an old man, I was really just dressing like what I remembered of my father, and grandad. I feel like adults dress so terribly anymore that there are very few examples of how a could dress well. Of course this is all opinion, and all can dress as they like, but... people look silly
Anyways, I dig this photo with big cuffs, engineer boots collared shirts. There is a pretty cool fella in this photos who has a few well worn Lee jackets that he has been photographed in. Kid on the far right reminds me of denimbro member Bob Dale Edited by illumin8em - 24 Jan 2012 at 10:10pm |

Fantastic pic illuminem, wish it was more in focus - would love a clear copy of that!
Where did you source it?

I imagine the giganto-cuffs were less of a fashion statement for these cats and more of their moms hedging against coming growth spurts...

Aw common, no guesses? If I gave the source I give away the mystery man. I'll give ya a hint, fella in white pants. Better focus would be great, but I don't know if it exists. |
