I had one some time ago, a tight fit just like he wore it in the Great Escape.
Fabric felt light and was very light in color. Was not my cup of tea.. (don’t know if there is a Toys McCoy thread as it is a different brand) Edited by ongaku - 12 Mar 2019 at 11:18pm |

I had been thinking about mail ordering but I guess it's better to wait till I have an opportunity to visit a brick and mortar shop.

Sorry if this is wrong place for my post. I'm considering either the McCoys or Freewheelers N-1 for
winter outerware. Can anybody comment on the differents between them, the fit, construction, etc..?

There’s a deck jacket thread somewhere. Can’t seem to find it atm.
First things I can think of: Freewheelers: very nice and thick parrafin coated jungle cloth, a little bit shiny compared to other repro’s, roomier fit, colors are different than the originals. No talon branded zipper. McCoys: the wool on the collar is less scratchy than originals and most repro’s, it is lined with a different type/color of wool than the body (very noticable in the khaki version). More modern slimmer cut, e.g. in sleeve hems and chest circumference. Talon zipper. If you wanna go for an authentic n-1 get an original or a Buzz Rickson’s. If you wanna go for style get a McCoy or Freewheelers. |
