Aye, we all like to look down our noses at the 'quality' of made in Pakistan garments (It says 'Levi's Strauss San Francisco' on the label Wink) but i bought that sweatshirt in used condition for £15. Ive worn it for work for 10 years, alright  the cuffs are trashed but that's because the cut was awful and the sleeves were too long. Sad truth of the matter is if i would have worn the £160 RMC sweat for work it would have fallen to pieces 9 years ago. Its not like im even working in a factory or outdoors in construction, im mooching around a workshop conjuring up hair brained schemes, my gentlemanly predecessors wore a shirt and tie with a smock/apron over the top.

In my opinion we consider RMC to be fantastic quality because they use luxury fabrics but the build quality is sometimes poor when compared to BR/SC or most other/cheaper Japanese brands. Im vehemently against outsourcing for many good reasons but lets not fool ourselves that manufactured in 'some far off land' automatically translates into poor quality when made in USA/JP/UK is inherently fantastic.  Just compare those MiA PF Flyers to a pair of off the shelf Converse,  for example my last pair of made in Indonisia Cons lasted a good 8 years and covered 1000,s of miles, walked through rivers, dried them over camp fires, i only threw them away after i fell through an asbestos roof wearing them.

RMC fabrics are undoubtedly nicer in feel, weight ect  but we have forum members here who have had collapsed Celastic in brand new £1500 boots and leather jackets with mismatched zippers on each cuff, for a £600 jacket that level of quality control would be appalling yet this was a £1600 jacket, one of the best leathers on the market apparently.

I don't think the dip in quality is recent, i think we have all been blinkered to the build quality over the years because the fabrics are so damn luxurious and we own that much clothing each garment never really gets put through its paces.

I don't think it's just Real McCoys though. How many people have justified £150+ jeans on the basis of longevity - "they're so well made they'll last as long as 5 pairs of cheap jeans so will save me money in the long term", etc. I think we all know that's b0ll0x now.

The other weekend I was helping do some renovation work at my kids school with other parents - there's very limited outdoor space and we've been revitalising an overgrown embankment next to the adjacent railway line. I was wearing my Warehouse jeans whilst the proper carpenter bloke was wearing industrial Dickies strides. I did balance them out with my Homebase wellies though!

I quite like it too.
McCoy's have used that contrasting heel counter before (years ago) on a sneaker they made exclusively for The Hood store (JP) basically a gray/black MA10004 with a different sole and branded insole.

I'd still prefer something other than a black outsole, but I love the heel counter contrast with the rest of the upper.
