hi there and welcome aboard.
measurements from the TCB online shop are bang on in my experience:
https://tcbjeans.stores.jp/items/54a7f4c9391bb3683e000d5b

here what google translate says
36 Body width 51.5 cm Shoulder width 44.5 cm Length 65.5 cm Sleeve length 61 cm Cuff width 14 cm
38 Width 54.5 cm Shoulder width 47 cm Length 68.5 cm Sleeve length 62.5 cm Cuff width 14.5 cm

I have a 42, it's generously sized. I could fit a 40 if I wanted to but then the jacket wouldn't look and fit the way it's designed for.

this is how it fits on me

for reference
height 178 cm
weight 90 kilos
bare chest 41 inches

hello volvo,

thank you for the info.  i was not aware of tcb's website.  i see your point in relation to the fit.  the jacket looks great on you.  fit is spot on.  i went for the size 38. i will post a pic in due time.

 cheers!

Im on the verge of ordering a pair of TCB 50's. But i have 2 questions:

What's the shrinkage on them?

I have the option to Union Special hem them. This might be a stupid question, but are they Union Special stock as well?

^ the 50's are made with Zimbabwe cotton, which is notorious to shrink a lot and stretch back. They don't shrink back as much as Fullcount though. They're sized pretty true to size. my 36 pair was 35.5 post shrink and stretched to 36, I could stretch it a bit further if needed but not much.
Tcb uses almost exclusively vintage sewing machines, and most of them are Union Special. The chainstitch hem is done on a Union Special 43200G, and they do it really well, with enough tension on the threads to acquire a perfect roping, but not too much so the hem doesn't break even after years.
here how it looks on my pair.

Nice! That's really as good as a hem gets, i wish all my aftermarket hem jobs looked like that that.
Does he use cotton or poly blend?

they use cotton throughout the 50's, a thick gauge thread. The thinner thread used on the 60's has proven to be quite more resistant but it doesn't move with the denim and produce puckering as much as the 50's.

Where were you ordering from? Which North American retailers have these?

Edit- this was supposed to be a reply to Eldani

I've seen them on denimio, but that's a Japanese site. If anyone knows a retailer in the EU, I'd love to know!

Edit: Volvo, I was thinking about sizing up to 36 and let it shrink to around 34. Would this be too baggy?

The only North America retailer I am aware of is The Shop Vancouver.
EU retailers are Son of a Stag in London and Pancho and Lefty in Sweden.
Denimio is the cheapest place to buy TCB, even cheaper than buying from the factory.
@Eldani a 36 won't shrink to 34, it'll shrink to 35 and stretch back to 36 in  a couple hours of wear.
Measure your own waist at the top of your hips with a tape. If you're closer to 34 than 36 I'd suggest you to go with 34. If your waist is about 35 you could make both sizes work for you. The 36 will stretch and you'd need to wash often to let the jeans shrink back. If I was 35 I would personally go for a 34. My waist is around 36,7/37 inches most of the time (!) and I wear a 36. I could wear a 38 as well, but the 50's cut is quite loose, a 38 would be gigantic on me everywhere but the waist.
