Great boots and pants.

Bartlebyyphonics, I love the close ups and the "hairiness" of these jeans.  Is there a proper term for that?

You said those boots are Cheaney.  As in Joseph Cheaney & Sons?

I have a pair of Cheaney brogues and they are just so wonderfully well made.  Your boots have that same solid look to them.

In my dreams, I'd be paying a visit to their shoe factory in Northamptonshire.  In fact, I'd love to combine that field trip with a swing through Oregon for the same purpose, seeing footwear bench-made in person.

I really hope this is not a craft that is in its sunset years...  I think of how much hinges on younger people taking the plunge and becoming apprentices, like Brian the Bootmaker was when he stepped up and said "teach me how."

^^^
thanks all
indeed they are the joseph cheaney & sons fiennes derby veldtschoen country boot to be exact
paul t (a veldtschoen obsessive) did a mini write up on them a while back (only found it after I snagged these boots in a sale)
HP: I can't verify about the liveliness of the craft: but I suspect you speak the truth: certainly I believe Grenson and Loeke have both 'adapted' to the times with outsourcing production overseas with Grenson quality dipping significantly...
and I can't verify tech terms, but hairiness is what I call it: tcb is the hairiest denim I have ever worn
