Anyone have any idea what kind of chain stitch machines Toyo might be using on their 50/50 blend jeans? The hems are so narrow--much more so than on the Union Special 43200g machines. I don't believe the folder on the Union Special machines can be adjusted for width of hem, but I could very well be wrong. Any ideas?

you can adjust for width of hem on a union special. I'm not sure how narrow or wide the tolerances can be, but adjusting is possible.

That's a 3/8" hem, its the same which we do at Self Edge at SESF and SENY (SELA is done at 1/2").  The reason this Sugarcane jeans looks far narrower than usual is because that fabric shrinks quite a bit and even 1mm more of shrinkage will make the hemline look far narrower.
If you can tell the difference between 1/2" and 3/8" you can definitely tell the difference between a raw 3/8" hem and a hot washed/dried unsanforized 3/8" hem.

My SC 47's, the older model, with arcs and red tab. These are my favourite pair of jeans at present: Soaked once, cold washed once, and now worn for 'best' (I'm old school). Have been wearing them on the odd occasion since Jan 2013, and will continue to wear occasionally without washing. Will probably update this time next year

Thanks, one of mine too. I've always been a Levi's/Lee fan, but bought two pairs on a bit of a whim a couple of years ago, one tagged 32x32, the other - 34x34. Wore the 32's for ages but shrunk them in the washer; Shame as they were looking great.
These I'm taking my time with as they are near-impossible to source.

Very nice pair indeed - seen a few used pairs now and they never cease to impress (I think erk has a pair too?)

Agree on the limb-offering statement - would love another 34x34 raw+arcs (also the gripper-zipped 1955 zip model+arcs)

I am really liking these 47s fellas.

Why I cannot find the a description of the difference in the type I and type II 47s, what am I missing? I briefly had a pair of 66s that were quite nice, but the inseam and taper ration were off a bit.
