I love speed hooks too. They only help in taking shoes off though... unless there's a trick I don't know about in lacing up. Also, less expensive boots tend to have speed hooks that are really sharp!

I prefer the look of eyelets, but definitely opt for speedhooks up top.

Here are my Foot the Coacher Service Boots. You can see the designer's previous roles at Tricker's and George Cox has really influenced the shoes. All eyelets and spaced close together, so there's usually a long line waiting for me at the entryways of restaurants and inns when I'm wearing these in Japan LOL

Interesting. I find speedhooks help me a lot when lacing boots up, too. Especially if the laces aren't leather, it's a much faster process.

Those boots are beautiful. I love the last design. I'd want a pair if they didn't have a wedge sole.

I guess this counts as a speed hook trick; works better for multiple hooks though:

Thanks Dude. I think I just suck at tying. I have terrible mind-body coordination.

The last is super sleek. It's almost magic. It's really compact and slim but doesn't feel cramped inside. Unfortunately Foot the Coacher seems to have stopped making their boots for now, and even their higher end Authentic Shoe Co more denim-broey line appears to have stopped.

Here is a top shot with Tricker's and JL Combat boots

Thanks, I'll definitely have to try this!

That's very cool.

I do a thing which I think I got from the Nick's Boots site. Rather than tying the bow at the top, I skip a row of hooks & then come back down to it so the bow is closer to the instep. Seems more comfortable to me.

Here are my custom White's Bounty Hunters in Horween horsebutt leather. My first pair of brown boots. It's also the first pair of boot's I've really had to break in. It took a couple weeks to break in, with them being incredibly tight and uncomfortable when I first got them. They've really softened up and I can see why White's has so many devout followers - the last is amazingly supportive. Once I get tired of my Thorogood steel toes, I'll be replacing them with White's steel toes for the workplace

55 last with soft toe
Single row stitchdown
6" height
+ pull tabs
