I just ordered the blacksmith with the black Friday code, but was charged tax for my order to Ohio. I followed-up with an email asking about it, so I hope it gets straightened-out.

The very quick response is a new one to me:

The reason you were charged tax is because California is an Origin based state and we are simply following the advice of our accountant and collecting for all domestic shipments.

Please see attached link referring to the rules.

I am aware that some internet companies do not collect this, But this is our sales tax policy.

I hope this clarifies things and if you have any further questions, please send me an email at ...

So I was in Rising Sun this weekend and was meeting with Mike regarding details on my Ranch Hand denim jacket I wanted specialized.  I fully intended to get the jacket made of the same denim as my one-off blacksmiths, but when i got there I saw Mike's new pair of blacksmiths and the denim on them.  It turns out that when Mike had Cone make some special run denim for their blacksmiths, he also had them run a batch of the same denim, but keep the denim loomstate.  The denim on the current run of blacksmiths are a sanforized (12 to 13oz) denim, but this small extra batch of denim was pulled out of the process right after the weaving, so there is no sanforization, skewing, or singeing of the denim.  100% loomstate cone denim.  So naturally I had Mike make my new jacket out of this denim.

Speaking with Mike, I was wondering if he would make some more blacksmiths out the denim, because once I get through my pair I want to get another pair (I have a feeling I will get a new pair each year or year and a half).  Anyways, one thing led to another and Mike said that he would be up to make a batch of Blacksmith jeans in the loomstate denim as long as he had 7 people for sure that would buy them.

So, mike has about enough denim to make 15 pairs and he needs at least 7 to make it worth the time.  He is willing to make this small batch of jeans at the same price as the regular Blacksmiths $375.  Also, we might be able to customize some other small aspects of the jeans, like buttons and labeling.

Are there any takers?  I am definitely down, I just need 6 more folks that are willing to commit to this.  Now, this is just a probe to see how many are interested.  Nothing is nailed down yet, but it is definitely doable.

Once again this is a very limited run of loomstate Cone denim.  Might not come around again for the Blacksmiths at least.

If you are interested please PM me.  If we exceed 15 people then there will be a "waiting list."  Once this gets rolling I will start up another thread for it.   I will limit it to Denimbro fellas for now and if I need to I will head over to SUFU for some extras.

Too bad your momma's a bitch, cuz I totally coulda been your daddy.

Sounds interesting rnrswitch!

I have been wanting a pair of blacksmiths for a while, but ended up buying the Elfelts, when I visited them..

I remember seeing this photoshot in Mono Workwear last year, it says the jeans are Blacksmiths, but the pocket design is different, I much prefer this to the normal Blacksmiths, anyone know anything?

I would be interested in the loomstates if pockets are like theseBig smile

I just ordered a custom pair of Blacksmiths from RS using the leg measurements from my buckaroos as I want a slim-ish leg pair of RS jeans with all the details of the Blacksmiths. Mike at RS was super helpful, and very responsive. He is making up a pattern for me.

Quick question, "...this small extra batch of denim was pulled out of the process right after the weaving, so there is no sanforization, skewing, or singeing of the denim.  100% loomstate cone denim. "

What does this mean for the aging properties of the denim and its current state verses sanforized?

Any pics around of this mythical denim?  I *really* like the denim that you used for your custom Blacksmiths, rnr.

I'm probably interested, but hoping the loomstate cone is a bit more interesting than the stock Blacksmiths.  That denim looks so smooth and boring compared to the rnrswitch custom version.

I don't think these are blacksmiths that the guy is wearing above I think they are a prototype that never got made....but I'm not sure about that? I checked out the new fabric Mike has while I was doing some painting at the RS, I believe it's a lot like the old denim that we find....I believe there are only a hanfull of sizes left on the A.B Elfelt's and Mike has never talked to me about making anymore...but if he did, It would be neat to remake the oldest, first year Elfelt's that I found a few years back?
