All the talk about OG Roys has made me realize I should get to work on the pair I put aside when the RoyXCone contest started.

But my regret is that I didn't buy an A2 from John Chapman before his prices doubled.  Definitely cannot justify one now.

Biggest Regret: buying Big Bro Jeans by Roy at Self Edge

a. the jeans are very very thin - after wearing for a day, they already have lots of folds in them
b. the rise in the back in insanely tight, nearly unwearable- after the first pre-wash
c. Customer service at Self Edge was not cool at all - I asked if the size was ok when trying on the jeans, the guy helping me just made me feel stupid for asking questions and wouldn't really give me any answers, pretty much acting like, "buy them or get lost." Then when I called saying that the jeans seemed to be a little tight and I asked if I could PAY for alterations, they just laughed and told me to keep wearing them.

I also asked Roy himself via e-mail...he just said to keep wearing them and the rise "should" stretch... I'm not doubting his expertise in denim nor am I saying the jeans are poorly made, I just expected that when a customer pays 360+ tax, the store and the manufacturer would take care of them... I know I would at least...

Sadly I think this is my last time shopping at Self Edge, and although I love Roy's story and what he stands for in crafting jeans and was planning to buy every pair that he makes, I think this is my last pair I'll ever buy from him ):

Last year I found an M43 at an antique store that fit great and was in really good condition. I didn't buy it because they wouldn't move off of the $80 price tag....DOH!

I have totally opposite experience with Big Bro's - never have had a better fitting jeans. These are only pair I have, that I can wear without a belt. And I had to by them online, trusting the measurements in the Self Edge site. They were a touch large at the waist and insanely long straight from the box but after a warm soak they are perfect both at seat and length (with healthy turnups). Sure, they are slimmer from leg than a traditional vintage fit would be but at least for my skinny legs the Big Bro's are perfect. I have tried on many 20's-30's LVC repros and as much as I would like to get a pair, they just look plain silly on me because I cannot fill them properly.

So no regrets here on Roy's... but I regret for not keeping all my old 501's I had back in the 70's!!
Too much Denim - too little time...

I've got a self edge story that might belong in here. I bought a pair of Roy rs2 for my brother. Size 34. On vacation in New York he went to Self Edge to get them hemmed. They refused to hem them because the jeans hadn't yet been soaked. They then convinced him to exchange them for a pair of the same jeans in size 36 because after the 34s were soaked they said they wouldn't fit him. He took their advice. The 36s never shrunk down enough to fit him. I felt I still owed him a gift so I got him a different pair if jeans and kept the 36s for myself. They did fit me at them time, but since I have lost weight.

I guess the regret is not wearing the rs2s when they fit me. I was pretty pissed at seny for a long while when he told me the story.

Yeah... They are way too tight when I button up the jeans to the top... it feels like I need to hunch over for it to be comfortable.
