My idea is to make a Denimbro/Denimbruin Workbook twice yearly, a S/S version that reflects what's currently of interest on the forum, and a F/W Denimbruin edition that focuses on exhibitors for that years upcoming Denimbruin.
My goal is to show new items from upcoming seasons as well as broken in items from season's past and true vintage, all mixed in each shoot.
I want to use a constant rotation of established and up-and-coming photographers. For this one, http://farhadsamari.com/#/id/i6793165" rel="nofollow - Farhad Samari, who shot last years http://www.denimbro.com/denimbruin-2013-look-book_topic678.html" rel="nofollow - Denimbruin book , was originally slated to shoot it, but scheduling conflicts ruled that out sort of last-minuteish.
Now I have lined up local photographer http://benjamingrimes.tumblr.com/" rel="nofollow - Benjamin Grimes .
Ben's got a superb eye for composition and lighting, and his darker, moody aesthetic really sold me on him.
We'll be shooting at least two sets for this book: later today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0wE3H3WTBc" rel="nofollow - Ryan Grant-Hays from Levi's Tailor shop will be shot in his home studio, then denimbros Jared and Emily will be shot later in the week at their http://jrusten.com/" rel="nofollow - J. Rusten woodworking studio in the Mission.
I approached quite a few denimbro-loved artisans/manufacturers about contribution items for the shoot, and was gratified to receive a bounty in my PO box this week.
Special thanks to http://www.hollowsleather.com/" rel="nofollow - Nicholas Hollows , http://theblackacre.tumblr.com/" rel="nofollow - The Blackacre (and his many alias's), and http://www.blueblanketjeans.com/en/homepage/" rel="nofollow - Blue Blanket jeans , all of whom made special items exclusively for the DB Workbook. Nicholas & Ray- I hope your fingers heal quickly.
Thanks also to: Ben Starmer at LVC, Fardin Sefidpar of White Feather MFG co., Russell Shurtz of Circle A, Ryan Martin of White Horse Ranch,  Cory Piehowicz of Bandit Photography, Michael Masterson of Masterson's HQMG, and Howard Gee at AB Fits.

Here are some shots pulled from instagram of some items that came in last week. I'll update the thread with some cf pics of the shoots as they happen, and post the finished photos in their own thread as they materialize.

I guess I lost my spot as a model. All that purging over the last few weeks to get down to runway weight was for nothing. Oh well. 😢

Excellent curation of items, artists, makers, and schemers.  Is this workbook going to be printed, digital, or both?

Very cool.

(somewhat surprised to see the tie. Don't get me wrong. I think it looks really sharp. But i thought the tie was a DB no no).

Well, there is no official Denimbro dress code, of course, but if I had to come up with one, I would think something like:

Religiously wear some well made manly (no girlfriend cut) raw denim.

Aside from that I would think anything would fly, so long as it wasn't ridicous, and even then...

Yes- they are pretty good, although no offset belt loop. :(
And maybe a little trimmer than the previous version...

Glad to hear there is no dress code, but your rough guidelines sound perfectly reasonable, and that may be the only religion I can stand for.

(p.s. was attempting to give you a hard time over a post a few months back stating that many members on here had spent their lives trying to stay away from the menswear item in question. But I just looked that post up, and it wasn't yours! Sorry......)

I have to take full responsibility for that dirty tie sneaking in… haha… I got too excited during the shoot and pulled out the (still cool, but very seldom used) collection of 30's/40's neckties I amassed in the '90's. If it's any consolation, both the shirt and tie are vintage 30's/40's and pretty work-wear-ish. Thanks to Mark for letting us try on so many cool pieces and putting the whole thing together.

+1 for native-made.  With this huge boom in native styles going on, I wish more of it had tags like that.
