found a near mint copy of 'Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison' on vinyl for less than a buck yesterday.

^ you're a better man than me, i'd probably have come back with a lot less given all the goodies at inspiration.
My wife and I are headed to Lincoln,NE tommorow (my tonite, weird) for a 3-day weekend of culture, shopping, and time with friends. Can't wait, there are 2 macchiatos from http://www.cultivacoffee.com/" rel="nofollow - this place waiting for me.

It was hard, but not too hard given the prices were astronomical....I did buy a few nice goodies, but I also sold a bunch as well. Sounds like a nice excursion! I'll be making belts and hitting the flea market on Sunday.

My college roomate had been having some serious health issues that had affected his job, and a number of other aspects of his life. He managed to get health insurance, his scripts, and adjusted back into his job. It's a true blessing as the problems just sort of rained down on the guy over the course of about 8 months. He's 'back to normal' or as normal as this guy can be

My wife and I are moving from our tiny town of Elwood,NE back 'home' (she grew up here, i'm from OKC) to Tulsa,OK. It's a great town, we were there all last summer. Really excited.
In addition, it feels as though I am finally getting my shit together. I am 99.999 % certain I will be accepted into an Aviation Maintenance Technician program at a local technical school. I took the entrance math and reading comprehension exam yesterday and scored 100%. If I am successful and find a job in the field my income will more than triple. The course is geared towards working adults (screw-ups like myself), and is 70% hands on and only about 30 of your more 'traditional' class work and lectures so I feel I stand a better chance of being successful than I did at University.
We'll see, it should be much less stressful financially also. I am applying for a Pell Grant and even if I am denied the Pell grant the course is well within reach.
My wife laughed at me because I am already trying to find a sweet pair of cover-alls.
Anyhow, I am excited!

I found a person on CL selling a Honda Spree for dirt cheap, if I get it, I can save quite a bit commuting to school and to my special ladies!

Congratulations Robbie! I'd fly in any plane you've tinkered on.
My wife and I are starting to get moved into our first 'all our own' house. With renovations on the condo to put it up for rent, and renos on the house to move in, I haven't been able to contribute much here, but that will hopefully change in not too terribly long. I've got newfound respect for Zissou in the ROYxCone days. After far too long, we've got shop space, craft space, library space, and garden space. Wahoo! Oh yeah, and guest room space if some of you old-timers want to stop over in the NW.

Man, this is a great thread. I feel all warm and fuzzy.
It rained really hard today (for LA) and made me remember how glad I am to be here rather than still in Kampala, where profoundly shitty infrastructure meant the seasonal rains regularly flooded the streets to the point of unusable and chaos ensued.

all my stuff is just shoved in the garage, gonna take awhile, got rooms to line and paint and fun stuff like that
|
Posted By: Bob Dale
Date Posted: 02 Jun 2012 at 7:12am
hmm...
where to begin? As some of you know Mrs Dale and I moved this past week from Nebraska to Oklahoma.
The entire process began with a potential disaster. I reserved the truck for Wednesday through Saturday, only I reserved our truck for the wrong Wednesday through Saturday. I was freaking out, 'ohh shit, ohh shit I am gonna have to pay the 900$ for a truck TWICE! The customer service representative failed to inform me I would only be charged a 50$ late pick up/no show fee.
Everything was okay, or so I thought. I drive to the truck rental place in Kearney (60 miles from our house.) and when I inquire about my truck the gal tells me 'We have you in the system, but there is no truck.' Standing here waiting, sweating bullets, unsure what the hell we're gonna do and the manager walks up and says 'whats the problem?... Ahh hell, give em 54782..' so we get the truck and the car trailer and we are off.
HAIL!
So we slow to a crawl and try in vain to find parking under an overpass along I-80, no dice.
Finally get back to our house and the punkass high school kids who'd promised whole heartedly to help us move, of course, flake and never show.
A friend/ teacher at the school my wife works at did however come over and we made light work of loading our truck. All great, but we didn't get all of our house into our truck.
PANIC. Calling around asking about storage units, trying to figure out what the hell we're gonna do with all the shit we can't fit into our truck/car.
So my wife works up the nerve, calls our landlord and asks if we can store our stuff in the garage for a few days. Our (AWESOME) landlord replies, 'POPPYCOCK, leave it in the house. Don't fool around with trying to put it in the garage. Just keep the keys another week and get your stuff when you can. No Problem!'
WHEW.
So I am driving along doing 62 (the max speed the truck will do) getting hit by a lovely KS cross breeze and my Mom calls me. She's in Canada visiting my sister so with the day i've had so far bells are already going off.
"Hi, Your dad is in the hospital' -- My mom wins no awards for breaking news gently. That was how she prefaced it. After I calmed down, she said 'ohh ohh, don't worry he's fine. My dad, a smoker since he was 9, maybe 10 has smoked for over 50 years. So a call telling me he's in the hospital freaks me out. The man doesn't go home from work sick, he doesn't go to the doctor when he is sick. My dad being in the hospital is a big deal. So she explains it is Pnuemonia and that he's fine. And that really, REALLY he is fine.
So, I call my dad to see how he is. He's fine, but he didn't tell my mother (who, like me, is prone to worry) that he had a stroke and the doctors put in a stint. My mind is reeling at this point, unsure what the fuck is going on. My dad can't really explain medical jargon. So how he's doing, how his heart is, all of that I am unsure of.
But we're moved, and my dad is alive. I am going to visit him today.
I guess that was more just 'news' than say 'good' or 'bad'...
anyhow.
that is how things are with me.
Glad to hear you're moved TG.

ECSTATIC does not begin to describe how I feel.
Been so anxious to share with you guys for some time now. Stoked.
So stoked.
The new addition will come some time in February , the 25th is what the doctor expected yesterday at the first 'big' appointment.
In a few weeks I'll know if I need to commission some baby overalls or a baby skirt. I am hoping for a boy.
Also, tommorow I start school. Needless to say the next 18 months are gonna be CRAZY.

Levis flagship moving to 4th and Market next year.
This is a good thing, I hope they give the store a bit more vintage flavor then whats going on now over at the other place. That old building never really felt "levis" to me and I always wished they were in a different building.
From turning Valencia into a grade school to that monolith on the corner, levis makes some odd building choices.
|

Date Posted: 27 Sep 2012 at 8:11am
wait, are you talking about Union Square? If so, thats crazy that they would leave that building!!!
Then again, they always pay too much for retail spaces. Hence why they closed my store in January.

yes the Union Square location.
the LVC area doesn't really reflect the clothes or the LVC shop, it feels like they got put in the basement of a sports arena.
the new area will be much better, Market st. is far busier and easier to get to then the far uphill side of union sq.
I hope they use some of their heritage for the new store.

and partners daughter got into, product design, architecture and spacial design... no matter which she chooses it means i get her room to turn into a spin training space. not really, but am super happy for her, and kinda jealous, wish i had done product instead of painting actual if i did it all over i probably would skip uni and get an apprenticeship with the department of conservation
