Hi, and welcome. Lots of information in the LVC thread already if you take the time to read through it. Your question is kind of like joining a Chevrolet forum then asking the group how to rebuild a 350. I’ll say that my own personal experience and desires has shifted with my waist line and how I perceive I wish things fit so answering your question definitively is not likely. Some of the links you’ve sourced are no longer valid as LVC is no longer sourcing from cone mills, but rather Japanese milled denim. I wouldn’t say the source material is completely invalid, but not totally valid. My best advice is to keep an open mind, if fashion is what you’re going for raw denim should be tried on in person. If your aesthetic is the every man’s garment that is the 501, don’t overthink it. If it’s not perfect wear it even harder than you would do as you have an excuse to buy another pair. |

I'll start reading the 469 pages of thread you say. My question is very simple. If I want the final size to be W31/L32, what should I buy?: LVC 501 1947 RAW - W31/L32, W32/L34, W33/L34, W33/L36? LVC 501 1954 RAW - W31/L32, W32/L34, W33/L34, W33/L36? Does it make that much difference whether the denim comes from Cone Mills or Japan?

I would suggest you buy a 33x34 in the 47, or 32x34 in the 54. Bear in mind that if it’s a tad snug after washing, it will stretch out a bit in the waist and general seat area with a few days wear. it largely depends on how you want your final fit to be. Much of the shrinking depends on how hot and long you soak or wash it for. Also bear in mind that LVC are notorious for their inconsistency in sizing and different denims shrink in different amounts. Forums are supposed to be interactive not a place to spoon feed drive by noobs. Not everyone measures the same way, not everyone washes or dries in the same manner. Different cuts and denim recipes shrink differently etc. lots of information in the 469 pages… |
