I can actually get behind this- I maintain 5 or so lawns in my work life, and am known for my hand edging.

My F-ing lawn mower won’t stay running for more than 5 seconds, This was the second time in a row that I had to use the weed eater on the lawn. Glad to have a professional onboard, my thoughts were to maybe attract some Gardner’s To the forum, and if they happened to like denim- even better.
Edit- if I had to hand trim the edges of my lawn, I think I would pin #1,354,218 to my chest, Then jump off that red bridge you have up your way.

Not so much a gardener, but l am into vintage denim. I would imagine that if the lawnmower still had old fuel in it then that could be the problem when it comes to continuous running. Wouldn't hurt to change the oil and air filter after cleaning out the carb of any crap first.
Strange thread title? But not as strange as the horse/fence one.

Cleaning the carb feels like homework (I don't like it) your right, thats probably the problem. I was looking at the big hole in my fence, while trying to remove my camper. I live in a horse friendly neighborhood, most of the horses are friendly, not so sure about the owners, chewed up fences all over the place, my thoughts were- draw some horse people to the forum, and if they like denim... all the better
edit- wait til you see my- show us your chickens in the neighborhood, that thread is sure to catch fire!

Shoulda bought a TORO Sansome, one pull start guarantee.
I rent , but am responsible for mowing our yard and its a corner lot so roughly an hour or of push mowing... i would edge initially but this year i cheated and used a little roundup before i stopped caring and dropped the mower down to 2/2 ...
I'm the only person in my neighborhood it seems who isnt retired or working from home.
These people treat their yards better than some folks treat their pets. 4 houses down a lady uses a reel mower and then has a small section of sodded fescue under a magnolia she trims with scissors
She also keeps roses competitively i believe

Fully shade, Kentucky blue grass and delta mix. I love that fine blade, even though I live in California and it’s so hard to keep that shade mix going.

I use napalm to edge my yard, I lowered my mower when I was young, it never worked out well With a lumpy yard.....
I won a $1,000 Commercial grade -Toro mower at a raffle, rainbird sprinklers put on a picnic and display at a local park- Most of the people made the early exit, they went through 10-15 numbers of people who were no longer there. So I won, sold it on eBay the following week....got me a cheap mower
No highly manicured yards around my neighborhood.
Robroy- I sprinkled a small bag of that grass in the side yard, I like the texture.

My company always used electric toros, and I always hated them. They’re a pain to lug around to various yards during the day- heavy and awkward (who designed these damn things- there’s no way to pick them up easily as the metal housing has fairly sharp edges underneath and picking it up by the handle is awkward and spine wrecking). A few years ago I tried a rotary push mower, with some trepidation- lo and behold it was much easier to transport and did at least as good (I’d say superior) a job- even on overgrown lawns (with a little creative raking). I’ve never looked back, except to wonder why I lugged the toros around for so long. Bear in mind I’m a gardener in a dense urban environment, so most of the lawns are on the smaller side. I wouldn’t relish cutting 9 holes with it!
Sansome- I believe I have noticed some clipped lawns in your neighborhood- over on the Reagan side.

The best mower I ever had was a used one with a military decal on top of the engine. I have no idea of the brand. My room mate got it from the thrift store. I had no experience with gasoline mowers at that point so after a while when it started to malfunction I assumed it was done, took it back to the thrift store & bought another used one. It was then, after using the replacement, that I realized that I'd thrown away a great machine. It easily cut anything I put it over & never bogged down. No machine I've had since has had that kind of power. Always wondered what it was. Some kind of military-spec, commando mower...

That’s what you call a no nonsense weed eater, looks a lot like cattle country CSL? I can hardly manage just under a quarter acre, I can’t imagine 60 times that amount. Nice wide open spaces, California has a lot to offer.

Yeah, it's a lot of time on the tractor, Sansome. Luckily I like being on the tractor. There are some cattle ranches around here. Also oil fields & general agriculture. A lot of grape vines gone in recently. Sucking up all our water...

My Italian side of the family, I'll ask my aunt about the age of the photo, My grandmother had 12 brothers and sisters- 9 made it to adulthood, and had kids of their own. I believe Carlo is far left? He was killed in Italy during WW2.

Thanks- my aunt has a bunch of old family photos- plus my grandmother took so many pictures, it really was a picture taking generation. Before the lockdown, I went down to San Diego for my great aunts funeral, been meaning to post the pictures of the old Catholic Church, where it Was held. My grandmothers parents settled in downtown San Diego- this church I’m talking about was used for the families weddings and funerals.
When I get around to it- my aunt also has a civil war sword/ discharge papers and frock coat- from my grandfathers side of the family.....and somewhere, I have his letters from the war, I just have to find them.

A few months ago I drove by a small local park and there was a robot lawnmower cutting the grass- it was about the size of a regular electric mower sans handle and shaped like a tiny Volkswagen bug. There was no one next to it, but I’m guessing someone was watching it from nearby. I had a fantasy of being in a Freeside park courtesy of William Gibson. Has anyone else seen this bit of the future?

this from back in July, thought may be of interest to the gardeners here finally made a visit to Derek Jarman's unwalled garden in desert like circumstance of Dungeness... [those are nuclear power stations in the background... churning sea is in front... shingle stretches for miles ... we went in one of hottest days of the year for socially distanced sea side jollity; mistake as no shade for miles ... ]
he is known for his queer-punk films (see his 1978 Jubilee) and re-visioning of historical figures (see his films on St. Sebastian, Caravaggio and Wittgenstein) - also did pop videos for Pet Shop Boys and Throbbing Gristle...
this garden is known for being a working with what you get in a strange environment (bleak sea, power stations in the background) rather than enforcing a plan... ... what I like to call a trash-zen aesthetic ... the cottage is known a Prospect Cottage, it has this extract from John Donne on the exterior wall
Busy old fool, unruly Sun, Why dost thou thus, Through windows, and through curtains, call on us ? Must to thy motions lovers' seasons run ? Saucy pedantic wretch, go chide Late school-boys and sour prentices, Go tell court-huntsmen that the king will ride, Call country ants to harvest offices ; Love, all alike, no season knows nor clime, Nor hours, days, months, which are the rags of time. In that the world's contracted thus ; Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be To warm the world, that's done in warming us. Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere ; This bed thy center is, these walls thy sphere
