OK, so I thought maybe this would be worth a thread, but may also be opening up a can of worms.

I recently had a rad experience with the venerable dkatz. This lovely chap extended his soft (but strong) hand from 2,500 miles away and purchased a lovely shirt for me that I would never have had access to otherwise.

So I figured a place to ask for help would be good. The specifics and details of the transactions belong to the parties evolved and Denimbro hold no responsibility in the matter a transaction should go sour.

I have done this a time or two myself for others and so far no problems. I cannot guarantee that I will be willing every time, but we are many.

This is just a place to ask for help. Sound OK constables?

I was wondering if someone in NY near the Meatpacking District Levi's store could help me out soon?

you looking for a shirt from meatpacking? they'll ship, you don't have to go to the store.

don't mean to derail your thread but just wanted to post this since there is so much more longevity to this thread than just one transaction alone.

for what it's worth, this thread can be used in future for proxy requests internationally since we know how some sellers/sites don't ship internationally. as long as you have a request it would be great to post it out since someone might just be willing to do it for a reasonable fee. also good that some stockists locally would have stock moving slower than some online retailers, so it will definitely be beneficial if the buyer wants it bad enough.

I for one am willing to proxy anything from Singapore or for you from anybody who only ships within Asia. am doing this for no fee at all, putting this out since I know how shitty it feels when you can't get your hands on what you want.

I do proxy from Japan. Been doing it for a few years now. Have handled transactions from many countries. Mainly do Kapital and any other brand/company I've featured on my blog. Will happily extend my service to Denimbros.

Ask around I've got a long client list.

max, i've tried that route and no luck. i was informed by paypal's cso that apparently my country has limits sending to accounts listed as NPO's (not sure how true this is since the issue i've been having has been well documented with no fix after doing a search). nonetheless i appreciate the kind advice.

You mean going to an actual shop or ordering something?
Because shipping cost is normally not that much of a difference within the EU as compared to within France for instance.

I just moved out from France in August - would have been glad to help Hollows!

Although you might still want to contact them directly - In France (especially in Paris) the first answer is always NO - but with a little persistence they might change their mind.

Gratis for the most part.

This should save people one lot of postage costs too.

I'm looking for someone in the US to help me bid on an eBay item. I don't think the seller posts outside of the US (he's not yet responded to my messages) so I'm hoping someone- ideally with a sniper can act as a bidding proxy for me and help with onward post to the UK if successful.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance. Martin

A very fine choice indeed sir.

The humble Jaffa Cake is often shrouded in tax exempt controversy, we don't pay VAT on plain biscuits or cake, children's shoes ect.. but when a biscuit is covered in chocolate it becomes a luxury item therefor taxable at 20% so in 1991 the raging cake/biscuit debate was taken to a VAT tribunal by Her Majesty's Customs ans Excise who argued that the 'Jaffa Cake' name was a minor consideration and was actually more like a chocolate covered biscuit and eaten as such therefor it should be subject to full VAT.
McVities as part of their defence actually baked an enormous Jaffa Cake which was presented as evidence.
Yes of course they won. They argued that 'cake goes hard when stale, biscuit goes soft' Genius!

Fight the Power!

As Double 0 might say, were he that kind of fellow, "quite."

BTW, if I miss anything, sweet-wise, from Britain, it's Flake bars and Coronettos.  And, yes, I believe both are now available here in Canada, due to ex-pat cravings.  Nonetheless, I prefer to savour my memories because the context of the treat was everything.

Scrumpy-soaked lock-ins at a enjoyed at a certain public house in Wales didn't suck either.

Preferrably from the driver's seat of a blue truck, while also smoking, and drinking alcoholic energy drinks. Clap

There's a stall down the road from my place (staffed by a grandma, generally have to leave Taipei to see the scantily-clad ladies manning betelnut places). I haven't tried them but from what I understand it's like smoking ten cigarettes at the same time while it dribbles out of your mouth.

Good people of Denimbro, I want to buy a tent from Rakuten JP, the tents in question can not be shipped outside of Japan, im not 100% sure why, i thought that it could be something to do with the high shipping costs which will be circa 20k even with this added cost they are still much cheaper than than i can find them elsewhere.
Ive hit'up numerous outdoor companies explaining that im happy to pay for 13/14kg for EMS shipping to the UK but still no dice Ouch
Do we have any friendly forum members based in Japan who are happy to lug a tent to the post office? (The box will be around 24"x12"x12") I will cover all of your costs and i'll happily buy you a t-shirt or something similar for your efforts. Failing this are there any UK based Bro's visiting Japan in the coming months who can bring it back in their suitcase and i'll pay for your extra baggage? This would only be an option if i could find them within a short distance of your hotel, i wouldn't expect you to waste precious JP time wandering.
If not i can use a proxy, just thought i would ask here first on the off chance??
Known forum members please.

Yeah maynard you jackass

Nice one!, ive just had a quick search for SWEN to see if they stock the actual tent but i can only find http://casa-swen.com/" rel="nofollow - http://casa-swen.com/ a list of stores but no online shop.

The shipping issue im having could be with 'international distribution rights' a'la RMC hence their reluctance to ship outside of Japan. The same tent in the USA is twice the price, there are no UK retailers only a distributor who can import the tent on your behalf but for mega ££££££!!

Ive checked the tent out at Jauce and even they refuse to ship international and that's a bloody proxy service. Angry

I wouldn't mind it before the summer so lets see if any other offer transpires, if not i might take you up on your kind offer.
Gav, I don't suppose you can find a link to your local SWEN's online shop, stock or brand list?

Nope! one site i was looking at they were already heavily reduced (all colours/sizes) yet they were offering a further 3% discount if you used a mastercard (it had to be mastercard) the URL had a different name to the store and the image res was terrible.

Ryan, have a butchers at this joint http://www.tmall.com/mlist/regular_n7jtTelHJiG73A-5xAbBvkCyRSI2KS4LJUEwqNZg-a8.html" rel="nofollow - TMALL

Its a spin-off of Taobao, i can't vouch for authenticity (much like Yahoo/Ebay ect) but it looks legit

Not sure, ask Tilmann, he's ordered direct from Taobao before and might be able to shed some light on the subject, i assume you would have to sign up to the TMALL site and see which sellers ship international, bit like ebay, if not you'll have to use a proxy.
Just watch the prices/conversion because it will be Chinese Yuan.

For Taobao I used a proxy back then. I think nowadays you can order directly. But those sites looks kinda fishy. Could be fakes? I dunno

Multiple sizes/colours and yes i would agree but those single pairs of purp/red are defo legit, at least the photo's are, and they're not exactly trying to lure you in with cheap prices.
Half the folks posting on hype forums for the last few years (same goes with the darker recesses of sufu) are the Chinese nouveau hip/rich and the re-sellers will be using places like TMALL for domestic sales, just as we do with fleabay.
