^Nice! I love the image of the back and how the wind is filling out the hood. I used to have a black one too and kind of regret selling it. They have a new overdyed black denim one now with built in beanie that I've been eyeing. I'm actually wearing the khaki one now.

Mr. Q- I have been looking at those new ring coats with the built in cap for a while- I realy like the look but not the wool (I think I looked at a translation and the cap and scarf are wool or a wool blend?).

I’m hoping there’s a new batch of wool-free rings next season, for those of us who think wool belongs on sheep.

that denim one is really nice- I see that one a lot over on styleforum and IG. I’d be curious as to how that one drapes and moves- must be a little stiffer than the twill/moleskin versions.

The denim one is currently in stock at CottonSheep. I love the contrast stitching on the lapel. I haven't tried it on either but it's only a 10oz and didn't look that starchy in person. Drape wise, it's probably pretty similar to the katsuragi moleskin.

Always been tempted by the ring coat but could never convince myself to pull the trigger.  I don't think I've ever seen a shot of someone wearing one that didn't make the outfit look 10X cooler.

I broke down and bought one of the denim ring coats- am looking forward to its arrival more than anything I’ve bought in recent memory...

Yes, the contrast stitching on the turned out lapel is really striking, adds a little something for sure.

Nice! How's the drape, fabric hand? Does it feel rough on the neck with the extra stitching? Do the blues bleed easily? Is the extra weight noticeable?

The denim ring coat came in today!

It is a lighter denim and has a slightly lineny feel, like new chambray. In fact it feels a lot like a heavy chambray.
Hangs much like all the twill ring coats I’ve tried on.
I really like it- will try and get a picture this week at some point.

Nice! With the colder weather the wool ones are looking better to me now, haha. Looking forward to the pic! Thumbs Up

I got jealous from Mr R's new ring coat acquisition and purchased a new one too.

The vintage melton fabric has some amazing basket texture. I feel like it's closer in weight and hand to the twill than the katsuragi moleskin. It's also warmer than both despite feeling lighter.

Here is a photo comparing the vintage melton and twill. Unfortunately I sold off my black moleskin one some time ago, so just have these two to compare. The blue looks much darker in most lights.

Mr. Q- have there been multiple interactions of wool ring coats? I feel like I remember seeing images of some super heavy looking ones in a faded red and navy from a few years back?

Yes, there are heavy melton ones with metal snaps by the hood and lightweight vintage melton in basketweave with regular buttons.

The stores probably carry other iterations that are not sold online.

I've seen a khaki colored denim version and a waxed natural canvas version of the one with lapel stitching

Always wanted a pair of century denim. Just can’t justify the price.
Maybe I need a proxy?

A proxy would help for sure. However, unless they're at Kapital Legs, they can be hard to find in Japan too. The Osaka shop also seems to have a lot of century denim on hand but it can vary

I also agree. Beat Century Denim they’ve made in my opinion.
Still likes the brown ones a lot

Might be worth pinging Johnathan (Bandana Almanac).  He proxied my 1-2-3s a number of years ago.  Not idea if he's still living close to one of the shops or not.  That was like five-ish years ago

Hello, a newbie here. I'm about to buy the Kapital ring coat, but there is very little information about sizing (or, the fit seem really flexible). So, here are my small questions: The length on the Kapital's website is the front length or back length? The front seems way longer, I think?? Any tips to get a good fit? This guy has a good fit?  https://imgur.com/a/nRBr5" rel="nofollow - https://imgur.com/a/nRBr5

It would be great if you can help, thanks!

It looks kinda tight on the guy in the photo. What's your height and weight? If you want it tight and a bit short, a size 1 is probably the way to go. Size zero is recommend for petit frames. Size 2 fits average or close to average guys. The fit is very flexible and the front usually hangs lower

Thank you! I'm 5'8/140 lbs, sort of thin build with only 33" chest. What's your opinion?

Thanks again, now I feel more confident with size 1. Btw, Do you know the length on the Kapital's website is the front length or back length?

I'm pretty sure it's back length, but keep in mind the neckline in the back is pretty high, it's where all the material for the hood sits

I will be visiting Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto next month. I am interested in checking out Century Denim jackets and jeans. Any recommendation to go specific Kaptial stores? Thanks.

Ebisu.  3 stores there within walking distance of each other, so you can check out all 3.  You can find Century denim at Legs Craftsman.
