The under appreciated brands thread.

While rummaging around the Internet we often see brands that we know little about, You can't justify a dedicated thread and they don't fit into any of the sub-forums, can we post them all here?

Im not looking for lists of brands, you don't have to own the garments but if they look noteworthy post them up.
Ok ive slightly plagerised this from another forum, but i liked that old thread, C'mon lets cast our nets a bit further. I'll go first

http://delbombers.ocnk.net/product-list/2" rel="nofollow - DelBombers&Co in house brand of The Warriors.
Looks like only 2 jeans cuts this season a 1952XX a 1969XX and additionally a TypeII.
Arc's from yesteryear look great (unlike current) as does the fading potential.

Anyone have any experience of these?

Talking of Anachronorm, I quite like these. Sort of a MF vibe to them.

Neputa jeans/genus
From what I understand (some help from google translate),
It is made by Warehouse for a small shop called Braverey in Hirosaki, Aomori.
(There is even a dedicated page in the warehouse website for it)
Really like the arcs & shape of the coin pocket.
Maybe somebody here can shed more light on this model (collaboration?)

Any views/thoughts/musings on FOB factory? I thinking of treating myself to a new pair of jeans. Option 1- buy another pair of Samurai S0500's, or option 2- try something new.

As i've got quite scrawny legs the slimmer straight cuts work best for me. FOB 151's seem to be in the right ballpark price-wise & fit wise but am I right in thinking they take ages to wear in? I'm not after fast fades or anything, but I do like a relatively streaky denim, and the samurai's do provide what I like....

Anyone got any personal experience with these?

Fob are far more popular on the Japanese blogs than outside into Western appreciation.
They are also an OEM producer of other store brands, but the only pair I actually have any experience with are the F191 (early 40's WWII lot).

I think they're great, and although I don't really like the 'newer' four digit models, the classic stuff is certainly worth looking at - past F087 and F099, now discontinued F098 (a '47 lot) etc. They've also released their newer 66 cut, the F163 to replace the discontinued F161 albeit in rather a heavy weight denim.

To be honest I haven't really kept up with it since going off radar a while ago and getting bored with it all, but there's some suggestion that their classic 14.5oz XX denim is shared between the F098, F191 and F151. I'm not certain how true this is, but if you look at the button picture of each model the fabric looks pretty similar to my eye.

F098

Might as well check some other sites for more images, measurements and fit etc

(I've bought from Clever by the way - good)

Now to get to point - the fabric is not slubby, irregular or streaky. Rather it is quite even, and doesn't fade with much falling at all. So in this respect while I would love to recommend FOB they may not be what you're looking for.

I was though pretty enamoured with the fabric; hairy, and very dark inky appearance after soak. They did get hot though, a combination of how much they tightened up after the hot soaking and perhaps feeling thicker than the 14.5oz weight suggested. I believe I once referred to it almost like felt or moleskin. Except stiffer.

My experience is that yes they did take quite some time to break in and offer any fading at all. Actually I wish I had been more patient and held off longer from the many hot washes I gave them as I think I ruined them.

I also found that they took some time to stretch, I sized true (? or possibly not, I'll dig out pics) and felt pretty cramped until they expanded. Once they had stretched and I'd broken them in I suppose they never subsequently shrunk back to being too tight despite trips through hot wash.

Anyway I'll see if I can find all my old pics.

OK, bonus old pic time. Part 1.

Raw (back in 2013!)

Raw fabric and buttons

Bit of construction. Quite tidy.

Stood up, nice plaid pockets. Or whatever you call it.

Raw fit!

They're a size 34 by the way. You may be concerned that they could turn out a little tight at this point.

Posted By: massivebonanza
Date Posted: 20 Apr 2016 at 11:42am
Well you might be right. Part 2.

They were also even more rigid soaked than raw. But then of course that is exactly what happens when you soak raw denim.

Washed fabric.

Posted By: massivebonanza
Date Posted: 20 Apr 2016 at 11:43am
And into Part 3.

A year later, of pretty much constant daily wear (I worked at the time at an industrial site so they were worn to work) I had still only achieved this. And with a regular wash routine by this point.

Pics were taken in direct sun light so the colour is a bit off, but you can still see the inky darkness I referred to earlier. Also at that time I had no idea how to work with ISO / aperture / shutter speed so everything was taken on auto.

Fast forward to today some rushed snaps to give you an idea.

Conclusion.

If I did it again, I would cool soak, and wear far longer before washing, only cool soaking as needed in between to loosen any grime and muck. Better in my opinion for the fabric, certainly in the case of these with how dense and furry they were.

Over.

Welcome mate. I actually went a bit off tangent with posting the F191, not sure what help if any it really was. Basically really good stuff, but fabric would be outside of your specification. So that's a choice you make.

What about the http://jelado.ocnk.net/product/2897" rel="nofollow - Jelado 510  ? That's their newer slim cut - the 505 being the classic straight.

More links -
http://ithot123.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/jelado-510-denims-slim-tapered-fit.html" rel="nofollow - http://ithot123.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/jelado-510-denims-slim-tapered-fit.html

SoaS have them too, not actually that obscenely priced although cheaper of course from Denimio.
You could at least see if you like the denim.

Hmmm- the denim on the Jelado's is right up my strasse. Think I prefer the 505 cut tho'. Definitely food for thought.

I assumed the Wego were made by Warehouse for a shop of the same name (as we have seen before) hence the limited details.
Whereas the Western River look to be made by Warehouse for West Ride hence the branding, call it a crossover if you will.

Are you talking the same Wego of brief Denime ownership?
Cheers.

Posted By: Blackadder
Date Posted: 27 Apr 2016 at 10:31am
I don't have any idea if Wego ever owned or co-owned Denime but it is listed as a related business. As far as I know, Denime was bought by Nylon.

Well the general feeling among Denime fans is that the history of the brands ownership after Orizzonti and Shins era was that Wego got involved prior to Tsujimoto (and now talk of it changing hands again - perhaps back to Wego?).

http://mixniaga.blogspot.co.uk/p/osaka-5-era.html" rel="nofollow - http://mixniaga.blogspot.co.uk/p/osaka-5-era.html

Bit more here;

http://www.fashion-press.net/brands/480" rel="nofollow - http://www.fashion-press.net/brands/480

http://www.fashion-press.net/brands/1360" rel="nofollow - http://www.fashion-press.net/brands/1360

Sorry to derail..

Posted By: massivebonanza
Date Posted: 27 Apr 2016 at 11:08am
... actually that would make sense, the director of Wego, Nakazawa Masashi (中澤征史) is listed under the Denime site as their director as well.

http://www.denime.jp/guide/index.html?name=law" rel="nofollow - http://www.denime.jp/guide/index.html?name=law

So talk of Tsujimoto/RMC/Nylon having sold Denime would appear true and WEGO must now be the new owners.

The cut and the "biker" cuffs are excellent, and the details very well done.

Unfortunately, I think £300 UK is too much to pay for a Denim jacket, especially when my closet is bursting with Denim jackets!

I don't know what the general feeling on double-fronts is around these parts, and the fit looks very un-bro-ishly modern, but I thought these were worth posting given that the western pocket and exposed rivets callll to mind another former forum favorite.

Double knee fronts look good to me, but on a regular fit or wide fit, not slim tapered. I think this work/durability detail is too incongruous here. Better to buy a pair of Trophy Clothing, or even Carhartt.

It sounds f**king ridiculous to me, like some kind of proclaimed denim-illuminati.

If you really want to keep the creative force of "denim masters" behind your business a secret that's easily done without the need to tell the internet, and why would it be a secret? Edmond x John Lofgren collab perhaps?

Maybe wearing a single leg of ones jeans rolled up to the knee will be the next big thing but Shhh don't tell anybody its a secret. Pfft!

The fit pics look far too Western/stylised to convince me that this is a Japanese denim brand, if they want to persuade us of their "deeply honoured" heritage we need more than bamboo i want to see models eating basashi straddling a harpoon on board a  whaling ship... i mean research vessal? or at least an oversize 47cut nothing less.... casual racism aside This sounds like a bunch of clueless Western hype-merchants that have hooked up with some JP backroom denim industry nobodies to bring us yet another forgettably tweaked modern cut.

Also agree.  Maybe the brand has a great fit that none of their other labels are doing, which would be surprising.  To me these look a bit too similar to Eternal, which they already carry.

I found a brand called Denim Craft on Rakuten. Got a striped chambray from them. It's pretty decent, and on the cheap side. Does anyone elseProduct name have any experience with this brand?

Anyone care to opine about Omnigod?
Massive, haven't I seen you in a pair?

I have three pairs and am wearing a pair at the moment! Just off to work but will comment soon as poss.

ps they are good, one-wash only, but good.

- edit; referring to the jeans of course. I've only handled the sweats/shirts so can't comment on sizing but I recall thinking they were nice. Typically the brand is pitched a little lower in price than the more recognised Japanese fare but I see no difference in product.

I do have a Spellbound western shirt, from same label - Domingo

So, http://www.omnigod.jp" rel="nofollow - Omnigod then.

Here's my collection as it was then, unworn.

Full length

Details on the 50-091 prior to wear.

continued..

Details on the 50-010, largely similar in detail but different in cut.

Fit - from Oct 2014, and I forgot now but either the 50-091 (regular straight) or more likely the 50-010a (classic straight)

Then with some wear some months later.

There's more of the 50-010 on page 1 of this thread beneath my FOB, as they were then.

Denim weight is circa 14.5oz, all using colour 29 in a one-wash. It's a nice fuzzy fabric at first, wears in with some bright colour as it fades - the fading though being notably slow. I'm currently four months of 5 days a week wear into the 50-091 - they are a really good, straight cut fitting true to tagged with moderate rise.

I can try and dig out old or take new measurements if need be - though measurements now are at more or less full stretch as they haven't yet been further soaked or washed since I begun what is proving quite a test of endurance to wear through the summer working months. No wash until at least six months, fully in the face of the current wash regular brigade! So what, I'm clean.

Apologies for what now appear appalling photographs, and the absence of more fits.

edit - last pic, a peek at the fuzz.

Nowadays mind this doesn't interest me, but it was fun back then.

Thank you, MB!
I spotted a pair of lightly used OGs while thrifting lately and passed them over but have been thinking about them since- don't recall the model #, but they were a lower rise with trim top block and a slim but not tapered leg.
I think I'll pay a return visit in those.

Oh, where were those appalling pics? I'm always up for a bit of scandal...

More than welcome! Glad I still had the pics buried in my flickr account.

The pair you saw may have been the 50-056 - I have those too - they match the description of a typical slim straight.

Unlike the 50-010 and 50-091 which are true to tagged size in one-wash, the 50-056 measure an inch larger in the waist, but despite this anomaly, are significantly tighter in the leg most notably at mid thigh, to the point that I can't fit mine. They just won't budge.

The other slim cut is I think the 50-072 of which I have no experience, but tight straight doesn't sound too healthy...

Haha sadly the only thing scandalous is in the poorly focused images above, unless there's another dire fit I can find somewhere. We'll see ....

^ I think you must be right and they are likely the 50-056, as the thighs were *notably* snug. Not unlike an older production model LVC 47 with a lower rise.

Oh, go on then.

Breath in!

...and relax ...

Weight has since then shifted from stomach to thighs and while they now button up, they no longer afford the ability to actually bend either leg!

/\ I'm not 100% certain, but I think these were the 50-056, going by the tightness of the combs and overall shape.

Done now.

- edit; why are these images transferring so blurry? What is going on with flickr ..?!

massivebonanza- I went back and picked up that Omingod jean, turns out its a 50073- looking casually online I see it described as a "tight straight" fit, and also a 50072 and 50074 labeled the same... ?

Are those overdyed Mr.R? At least on my screen the turnups look the same color!

Good show Mr. R! Particularly like them cuffed high. How have you done that cuff? Is that turned in first then out in a concertina fashion? I can't see the weft.

Looks like a washed finish on that model - same http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/fukuraku/item/13denim-50-073a-29-5/?s-id=borderless_recommend_item_en" rel="nofollow - here . Their washes are pretty good.

edit - cross post! Denimetc asking the same.

Detc & Mass- they are not over dyed, nor washed, but have had some good wear already. They were darker when I purchased them- they lightened up when I washed them.

You don't see the inner face or selvedge at the cuff because I cut and hand hemmed them, as you would chinos or dress pants, with about a 1" fold. I planned to wear them uncuffed, but it was blisteringly hot on my roof yesterday so I gave them a turn up. If I'd made a bigger cuff you would see the inner face and selvedge above that 1" hem.

I quite like the fit- a lot like older LVC 47s with a lower rise and slightly slimmer lower leg. I carry all my fat seemingly right at the natural waist, so it's kind of a relief to have jeans hit under that. Quite comfortable, despite the slimmer cut, and the denim is really very nice and has a soft hand.

You know you might be on to something there, that just might be the future of hemming. No more fancypants £20 chain stitching, instead a wide fold and single stitch at a cost of needle and thread. It works as you demonstrate with a cuff too; honestly, I'm almost sick of the sight of selvedge. I like the DIY nature of it too, same as with self adorned patches, extra pockets, home repairs, true customised trews.

Omnigod goes very unnoticed - I think some part of it is that focus is usually toward the primary Osaka brands, or the more prominent 'theme' led brands - yet these guys quietly have some lovely looking stuff that doesn't adorn itself with the logo's and slogans that say some of the repro brands will do. The sister company Spelllbound (both under Domingo) puts out nice kit as well.

Great fit Tillman!  how would you compare that cut to...let't say Fullcount 1108?

Posted By: b_F
Date Posted: 02 Oct 2016 at 9:26am
The 3009 has a significantly lower rise and more room in the top block. Thighs are also larger. And the 3009 taper more. Definitely better for my frame than the 1108

Thanks Ben! Yeah they fit really, really well. Especially since I lost some weight. Definitely gonna wear them more often but I also wanna give the new Rivet Hide collab some wear :-)

Those seem crazy slim, I hope they fit! Denim looks incredible on those though. Although I think there is a gap in the market for a more wide-legged cut with that denim, not more slim ones!

Thighs on size 36 are 13". My Resolute are much slimmer and I can wear them comfortably. So I'm not that bothered. Yet ;)
