Didn't see an ooe thread so I thought I'd make one
( most members have probably heard about ooe but for those who have not )
Ooe Yofukuten is a denim and workwear brand from Japan that consists of just two people , Ryo and Hiro . These two denim enthusiasts create every garment from start to finish with great attention to detail and real passion that realy shows in there work
All garments from ooe are custom made , you can chose everything from denim to rivets to stitch colour and size

A few pics of my S9202's

Please excuse the fit pics ( I had recently bought my first house when I took these pics and I still had a lot to do )

I've allways liked the details on ww2 Levi's but fuller cuts don't realy look good on me so these are a 60's fit with ww2 details

s4403xx, worn a while with a few washes.  I'm almost certain 44 is out of stock.  Beautiful fabric.  New, in hand, it's the most irregular and slubby broken twill I've ever seen, in person or in photos.

Contest jeans, s9103xx.  These are unexpectedly small.  I wanted to do this with the 03 cut, but if it was planned I would have custom-upsized through the hip and waist for more comfort.

I've been following the Ooe contest on superfuture (one of the best remaining threads there), and it seems like they're having some growing pains.  They got really popular and are trying to adjust to the demand, but in the meantime things are running less-than-smoothly.

ThatÄs a great pair!

Met with Ooe-san today. Started working on a new item for this autumn winter.

Also they stopped doing custom one-off orders. They should have some of their new products out in a couple months though. They have the most insane collection of sewing machines out there, checking out some of their new products was pretty mind blowing. Construction and details like I have never seen before...

Still bums me out every time I hear that they stopped taking custom orders.
But I'm definitely going to order some or their garments eventually.
Any update on the status of their website?

They're still working on production of their standard line. Should be around July maybe...

Definitely more difficult to get things done taking dozens of custom orders, and people cancelling and/or changing their minds.

Definitely looking forward to more information on their standard line items.
I did recently see some new photos of Ooe stuff on Instagram from different Japanese users.
I can only imagine how difficult it would be to keep up production with all the hype they received as a result of the denim contest.

Had to keep it quiet but looks like Ooe-san have posted their first new standard item on their http://ooe-yofukuten.com/#id0" rel="nofollow - updated website.  I will have my pair in the next few days, they just shipped the first batch today.

My pair arrived this morning. Very precise construction and exact details. The denim is 100% original fabric made by a small mill in Okayama only for Ooe-san. It isn't over slubby or too shiny. It has a few tufts of nep and absolutely perfect softness to it. The stitching is the best I have ever seen on a pair of 5p jeans.

holy cow, the expected shrink on that pair is crazy. i'd have to buy a size 35 to get fit a 31. i just really like o.y.&co, can't believe i have never ended up with a pair

Posted By: the bandanna almanac
Date Posted: 05 Jul 2014 at 5:53am
I always wear a size 34 and only had to go up one inch for this pair. If you look at the size chart the expected shrinkage is just 2.5 inches approximately.

Manlier than I.

My denim gets stored away at the start of the rainy season and doesn't reappear til October.

Edit: no, that's not true, I have some 8oz dungarees I wear through the summer.

It isn't a contest of manliness nor an art.. pfft

Sometimes the humidity gets to me, some days I can wear jeans without feeling stifled. Since I don't work in an office anymore, I can just change to whatever is comfortable. Lucky me I guess...

Thursday I received the 02s that I had ordered from the new Ooe site. The 43 denim is, as others have commented, really nice. I had been waiting to order a new pair of Ooes for a while -- The 02s in the 41 denim that I bought back in the summer of 2010 have been sitting around, unworn, for the past couple of years. This time I opted for a size 40 to replace the size 37 I have already and which are now far too small to fit me. After two two-hour cold soaks and approximately ten minutes of agitation in my washing machine, this pair shrank down to the measurements posted on the Ooe site. As silly as this may sound, I do sorta miss the "tailor" tab that at one time came standard on Ooes. I could simply transfer the tab from my 4102s, but I'm lazy.

When they say "single-needle stitched, with no lock stitching or filigree"
what exactly does that mean?

Posted By: the bandanna almanac
Date Posted: 27 Jul 2014 at 2:29pm
I don't know what to tell you it is pretty straightforward.

Posted By: CSL
Date Posted: 27 Jul 2014 at 4:43pm
Well let me ask it this way, I know what chain stitching is & I believe lockstitch is what a standard modern sewing machine does. What kind of stitch is 'single needle'? Does that mean literally sewn by hand without a machine?

Posted By: Foxy
Date Posted: 27 Jul 2014 at 8:51pm
There are certain seams that have a top stitch of 2 parallel lines - these can be done in 2 ways with 2 different machines:
- with a 2 needle lock stitch or 2 needle chain stitch machine, all in in operation
- with a single needle machine (lock or chain stitch) in 2 operations, with the added difficulty to keep the lines as parallel as possible

When they talk about about single needle stitching they refer to the later - it takes longer (twice the operations) and it is more difficult to achieve a clean, parallel look.

No worries, Mr Bandana.

I'm still a bit baffled as they state 'no lock stitching'.

Maybe it's single needle chain stitch?..

Makes perfect sense...

They didn't use an overlock stitch, is what I meant. Sheesh i need more sleep... Sorry for the confusion what a trouble maker i have become.

Posted By: rnrswitch
Date Posted: 30 Jul 2014 at 10:01pm
I always thought single needle meant single needle lockstitch. I thought it didn't even mean single needle chainstitch. Putting together a pair of jeans using single needle only requires a lot of extra work and some nifty needle work.   A single needle felled seam is a work of beauty.

It's a place where you lose yourself and find yourself. ... All joking aside it's pretty dope.

Wow, very interesting!
I've been wearing my pair of OA02XX's for almost three months now and I really like them. Sadly I'm already developing a bit of a blowout, need to get that taken care of sooner rather than later...

Bummer that the inseam is 32" post soak. They look very nice.

Why do you think they are 32" post soak? They start at 36" and Standard&Strange say they shrink 2" in the inseam.
That said, my pair of the OA02-0714 are a little above 33". But because of the pretty long rise they feel much longer

The Standard & Strange website size chart shows them at 32.9" post soak for all waist sizes (you scroll down to see the post soak size)

Yeah I'd say my OA02XX's came out closer to 33.5" after three washes.
I'm about 6'3" tall and don't have any issues with the length myself.

I'm 6' 2" but nothing less than a full 34" inseam works for me on any brand of jeans I own. When they get to 33.5 they get sold. Cry
