Levis' does, in fact, make things that are not simulacra of their own simulacra.

Starting this thread exclusively because I just discovered that the Levi's x Filson Oil Finish Tin Cloth Trucker is now offered in black, which is awesome. I don't wear a lot of black -- what with our vintage Earth-tone cos-play obsessions, none of us do... except for docblue 'cause he's in motorcycle bad-ass cos-play mode -- but I love my tan jacket and am intrigued by this sucker!

Also $216, and only looks to be on http://www.filson.com/products/oil-finish-trucker-jacket.10502.html" rel="nofollow - Filson's site , not Levi's. I'll be keeping an eye out!

Saw this made and crafted piece.  I tend not to be crazy about vests, but this is really cool looking.

I also really like the 38$ Khaki STF jobbies at Jacques Penney as well.

I'm VERY interested in the Fair Ends x Levi caps discussed here:

anyone seen these in the flesh? Is the SF "Made Here" store the one adjacent to the corporate HQ?

I'm thinking about getting a pair of selvedge "Water-Less" 501 Shrink-to-Fit jeans. Are they using Cone denim and what exactly is "Water-Less"?

Posted By: attackwithstones
Date Posted: 22 Oct 2012 at 5:48pm
Yes they are Cone denim.  The water-less refers to that fact that little to no water was used in the production of the jean.  It is Levi's way of saying the jeans are "Green."  They decided the best way to decrease the environmental impact of jean production was to cut down on water usage as well as  to end stone washing.

I'll be looking out for the elusive "Water-Less" indigo trucker jacket, too.

Is there a business reason why they don't make many raw indigo trucker jackets? They're so hard to find.

The slippers are unisex, but the large silk quilt is specifically mens?  I never realized these things were real.  I thought it was just weird prototype stuff that only saw the light of day languishing on ebay.

I quite like 'wtf' clothes. not for me to wear, but to look at. I can't imagine half of the clothes LNCC sell ever get worn out of the house, but I'm glad they exist.

I think it's just the angle, foreshortening, the L also looks very short.
I think what appears to be the dot of the i is infact the r of the registered trade Mark.

The 2014 collection looks like a return to form for LVC .

^ ^ Don't think it is; the angle makes it look like the i is sideways.

I found in TKMaxx today some rigid Made & Crafted jeans - they usually have loads of rank washed models, but these aren't, and look pretty fucking good on. I always liked the idea of the arcs being stitched on arse of the trouser inside the pockets, so they gradually start to show with wear - obviously this was pretty pointless with the washed pairs though... fairly lightweight denim too, so should be good for the summer. :)

it was made by a leatherworker near here. It was really cheap as well - 7 quid iirc. Best belt I've ever owned too. :D

Decent enough pick up Killer. They look a good cut.

I went back to TK's and picked up the small 'e' 501 selvedge I'd mentioned a while back. Button code 4420, made in USA, happy enough for 60 squids.

Fun denim though, and pretty comfy. I'll pic' up soon as.

Posted By: hoggreaser
Date Posted: 06 Jul 2014 at 7:07am
1.

I've taken some pictures of the 501's that I previously mentioned found in TK Maxx.
I haven't seen a pair of regular line small 'e' like these before, perhaps someone else may have.

Please excuse the abundance of pic's.

Classic straight leg.

The patch, tags and codes..

2.

Pockets and arctautes

Bartacked and V stitch

Nice crinkly yoke

Chainstich hem, roping and white selvedge

Yet curiously, yellow line coin pocket

Posted By: hoggreaser
Date Posted: 06 Jul 2014 at 7:09am
3.

Quite tidy workmanship on interior of fly placket

Tufty rivets

And on to the defining feature, the curious and most un-Levi-like denim

Date Posted: 06 Jul 2014 at 7:31am
Very nice find, very interesting.  Looks better than most LVC in my opinion.

Is that really a different selvage ID on the pocket, or just that the stitching lands in the middle of the blank selvage?

Thanks Hollows.
Hm, that's a good question. I'll go and look again*.

They're just having a cold soak now in an effort to stiffen the fabric a little as they were buttery soft. From immersing them I did actually get a little indigo on my hands which was quite a happy result.

* edit - good eyes! That is indeed the stitch line LOL

Here's a question for you...

The early Levis jackets- i.e 1890's triple pleats, had 2 pockets, which obviously worked OK for them. Why then would they go on to produce the type 1's with only one pocket. It seems a bit of a step back in functionality.

Was there ever an intermediate jacket produced by Levis- double pleats, 2 pockets, cinch etc?

Sansome has a triple pleat with one pocket which came out after the triple pleat with two pockets.
Theres a pic on this forum somewhere, maybe they ditched a pocket to make a bigger profit?

He is a fairly new seller so could be fraudulent.  Etsy is pretty good with stuff like that.  I bought from a Colorado seller who in reality was in China.  I wrote to Etsy and explained how the seller was benefitting off American soil which lead to their store being shut down (I know scum move but eff him).

Bought this new Levis Filson trucker jacket with tags  for 64 euros without making any questions few weeks ago!

I guess that they didn't know what they were selling at Athens airport Factory outlet Levis store.

All sizes were available. One item or two per size.

Seems to be a 2010 Levis trucker jacket made by filson USA

Sorry about the pics. I used flash only on the last one.

WOOL SHIRT JACKET

Designed as part of Levi’s Golden Handshake collection, in celebration of the 100-year partnership between Levi’s and Cone Denim Mills, this shirt jacket is made of a thick wool felt fabric and features an extra-large collar, button-flapped patch breast pockets and a straight fit.

A new design apparently, not based on an archived piece. The collar, wings, distinguish it certainly! I admit to having similar reservations, also regarding the quality of wool, wear & longevity. In spite of this, I have placed an order, will post thoughts upon arrival.

This rather unusual looking Levi 70507 0260 - made in USA. I can't work out if this is a factory spec or custom job. The original colour-way is black - slight fade over the year.

The dye spotting looks to be well covered throughout, including lining and inside pocket seams. Suggesting it may be a factory spec.

I can safely say that I haven't come across one like it and I've sold my fair share of denim. With all that said I have seen my fair share of customised denims too. Yet I still consider myself a Newbie to denim goods in general - hence getting in touch.

First time posting here although I've lurked for ages now. Picked up what I thought were a bargain pair of vintage Big E 501S from eBay but I've a strong suspicion they are fake. Originally bought from Thailand they're new with tags. Photos are attached if anyone can confirm I'd greatly appreciate it!

phony levi 501 "wash whit like colors"
mostly been a work pair and have very minimal fading for the amount of wear. not a lot of puckering either for the amount of trips through the drier. originally tagged 34x30 but measured 35x34 , now measure 34x31

those 551zxx are still one of the better repros, although they suffer from excessive hip flaring...

Hmmm... 1880 xx with non-sewn buttons which are branded? Surely 1890's? Maybe it's a typo

you are right about the buttons, which also confused me a bit. but all other features seem right...
maybe lvc change the suspender buttons before production starts.

Hey guys, excited to share pics of my first selvedge jeans purchase. Love any comments/criticism of the fit.  Does the cuff look ok? Wearing with RW Heritage Moc Toes.

Going to post a few pics and some detailed info if its beneficial for anyone.

Current production run Levi's 501 STF, Indigo Denim, 33" x 34". Soaked for 20 minutes in 109 degree water while wearing them, then dripped dry while wearing for an hour. Hung up after that to air dry inside.

Pre Soak/Dried/% Diff

Waist: 35.5/35"/1.5%
Inseam: 34"/32"/5%
Thigh: 13"/11.5"/11.5%
Leg opening: 8.5"/8.25"/3%
