Right before Christmas, I met up with a friend- we got to talking and started in about some horror stories we had experienced. I consigned my check jacket (The same check jacket I sold to Larry, hellers Cafe) so my jacket was
Consigned at this shop in LA, months went by...and still no word, so I made a surprise visit, with the intention of taking
The jacket back. When I arrived, the shop owner looked like a deer in the headlights, they said ( hey I’ll be right back)
An hour and a half later, I was still waiting at the shop, and about every half hour- a phone call would come in and the person manning the store would turn away...no doubt, it was the store owner calling in to see if I was still at the shop.
I think I tapped out at the 2 hour mark and drove back home, weeks later I called, stated my intentions of picking up the jacket, I got the jacket back- I believe I told the ending of the story years ago, RRL rented the jacket and put out their own version of my check jacket ( Would be fun if someone can dig up pics of the RRL check jacket)

My experience is nothing compared to my friends story, same shop- my friend consigned a half dozen horse hide leather jackets- same, months went by and no word, finally he said, just send them back.
2 months later, he gets a box sent back, in the box we’re the six jackets deconstructed, the jackets still had notes in Italian.
Turned out the jackets were rented to an Italian company who took the f-Ing things apart.

Please no names- this was all 10 years ago and it really doesn’t matter anymore, just a somewhat interesting story to tell.

Yea, all the sleeves were taken off, some were taken apart even more than just the sleeves.
He- Me and everybody else that was caught up with this individual- never got any $$
I learned my lesson after the first time, my friend had a few hundred pieces on consignment at this shop,
I went with him- unannounced...we went down to the shop to collect all his clothing, then we went to the Rose Bowl
The next day, he found a French calling card in one of the denim chore coats we took back- according to my friend a week
Later- he said 20k worth of vintage was missing.... he cut his lossses and we had a good laugh Over a few beers...what a colossal shit show it was, a little over 10 years ago.

Denim and drama

Well at least by these calculations- we would have been compensated in 4-5 years

Closest thing I had happen to that was not clothing related. Back in the early 90s I found a vintage (early 50s) tweed Fender Deluxe Amp in the thrift store for $25. Decided I didn't need to keep it so put it on consignment at OneWorld Guitars in Austin. TX. I think that was the name of the place. I lived in New Orleans but was visiting Austin occasionally. So a few months went by where I would periodically check in to see if they had sold it only to be told not yet which surprised me as suck amps were (& continue to be) very desirable. Eventually I got to Austin for a gig. Called the shop & said I was coming by to get the amp. Wonder of wonders! It had just sold...In case the true story is not obvious I'm certain they had sold the amp months ago but weren't going to give me the money until they absolutely had to.
