I watched a load of the films of Mitchell & Kenyon the other week - they made a load of films in the early 1900s, mostly of people leaving their workplaces at the end of the working day, so there are lots of great  workwear in them.

Check this out (there's loads more on Youtube)

These videos are great guys. I love seeing how so many of the people seem to really be into the idea of being caught on film. Particularly how many of the kids stop and mug for the camera.

At 4:10 i laughed at the chap giving the rods to the camera, it seems that in Victorian times media intrusion was a concern, im glad we've finally got that in check Confused

When i started work as a skinny-boy apprentice, i would occasionally visit foundries and even in the 90's (before the days of HR) differences of opinion (often regarding the job at hand) between burly-assed steel workers would be settled via a fight outside in the yard. The victor obviously being in the right the looser being wrong... It was common and perfecly acceptable working practice.

Feyt...feyt...feyt!!! You don't get that in the call center...

Thank you for these videos Hollows and killer.  Movement and broader context makes every difference in getting a sense of the clothing and the person in them.

00, that "feyt" looked oddly ceremonial.  If followed by an employee performance improvement plan, HR might consider it as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.  Wink

Loved the stately way the two policemen steamed through in killer's contribution, everybody giving them wide berth.

I watched the fight video in Manchester library the other weekend, the notes with it suggested it was staged for the camera, which might explain it's ceremonial appearance to the modern viewer...
