Right. I like the idea of collarless though. I'd buy one!

Filson made a collarless jacket like that sometime before WWII, probably in the 20s, and also came out with a newly produced version of the same several years ago, at a very high price.

The fur chaps are, or were, authentic cowboy gear (worn for warmth mainly) but wearing sweaters would never make it in the movies. Also, cowboys before, say, WWI generally didn't wear belts like you see in the movies, either. But chances are, at some point real cowboys would start imitating movie cowboys.

Such a great photo Bandit! Good to see you posting!! Is this one that's in your possession? Would be awesome to see a close scan of the pleated jacket.

Hey Buler, I wish it was mine, the guy sold it before I got back with him. So this is the only scan I have of it. Its a really great image but he wanted way too much. Def late 1800's and taken in Carson NV. Really cool area with so much history.

That’s a beautiful image, bandit!

The denim jacket looks like it was an influence to Stevenson Overall Co

Almost like they're wearing a uniform. Perhaps ranchers outfitted their cowboys with the same stuff sometimes?
