It does seem to go beyond local rivalry into the realms of deep seated hatred.. ive noticed car stickers with a caricature dressed in a Blades footy shirt pissing on an Owls footy shirt (or vise-versa) which is laid on the ground, even i feel slightly offended by it and i don't really give a shit.
Why do they feel the need to be so outwardly aggressive to anyone who doesn't agree with the colour they've chosen to support.
I'll endorse anything for cash

Luckily you don’t live in the west of Scotland and be exposed to the the ‘old firm’ rivalry
I don't swim. I can swim. I just don't have much cause to do so in the normal run of things.

Yeah, the ‘old firm’ goes well beyond a football rivalry.
It’s just pure sectarian hatred.
Scotland’s shame indeed

I'm from Scotland, and it certainly isn't my shame.

Totally agree with you in that respect JRD - the shame belongs to those that are involved, but it does infect the country.

I could understand the hate to some extent if peeps are from different backgrounds be it class, social, ecconomic, religious, but like Mr B points out.. in ours and many other cases the love/hate goes hand in hand. "I hate SWFC" why? "because i like SUFC" Wow, you've really thought about that one but i can excuse him because he's 9 not 39 but its seems to be the same mentality.

I was in the park last week kicking the footy around with our young'un, some other kid who was only around 6 years old walking across the field with his dad said "can i play too" i said "yes of course you can, what about dad's go in the nets (the posts were a tree stump, jumpers and a frizbee) first to ten..?" next thing this silly c**t starts shouting footy jargen at his confused looking kid... "Man on! Man on!! Down your line!! Get in there!!!! Go on Shoooooot!!!!!!!!" ect
Head in his hands when his kid missed, i was going to let his score anyhow...

What the fuck!

LOL

I suppose it’s a bit like denim snobs hating those that wear designer jeans or supermarket jeans

Not really...well...not in my case...(i hope) i like to think of myself as a denim-head rather than a denim-snob (I think supermarket jeans are dope af btw, cheap shit for the working man an'all) the only thing which does annoy me sometimes is the fashion crossover, the whole fake rugged, heritage...office worker bollocks.
