I haven't bought anything, but I've not been able to stop myself from compulsively checking ebay or browsing the racks in charity shops: concerned it's only a matter of time before something goes awry...

![]() Bryan, you weren’t seriously attempting to follow my/our lead on this “no buy” thing, were you? That post was made in jest, right? Sorry that’s a little hard to read for me |

started the year in good faith (true story). but ran out of socks in recent trip to the uk, so got emergency 88 percent cotton made in portugal socks from primark that, because they were thinner than my boot socks, finally forced me to admit how uncomfortable my new blunnies were. had got them last year in my old size (last pair i had was in the mid-2000s) but they now come with thickish plastic insoles which made them too tight. so removed them but the footbed is so thin i feel like i can feel the outline of the outsoles on my feet and hence they never feel bedded in. so this happened: :D
just in case hoggreaser is still here, we had a long chat about cairngorm sizing many blue moons ago and it turns out i'm an 8.5 uk and i'm generally an 8.5 or 9 us (shoes, not trainers).

Ive got a theory re-this Ooms.. I found a drawstring bag at my folks house some years sgo with a few pairs of boots & trainers inside which i haven't worn for 20+ years and every pair was at least 1/2 size too tight. I reckon when you're younger, springier and generally more gazelle-like, you're arches are higher therefor your foot is shorter in length. Any takers?

Ooms, I had some Blunnies (Aussie made circa ‘06) that had removable insoles virtually identical to those on most trainers (running shoes) - coloured fabric on top and flexible polystyrene/foam beneath. Why not try a pair of those or failing that, some thin leather insoles from the local cobbler/shoe repair shop?
