I went to AB Fits and picked up an LS-2.  Its a thing of beauty.  I didn't notice any shrink upon initial soak, and hope that trend continues, as I dont have much room for shrinkage.  I sized a 38, as the 40 seemed a bit to  loose. Howard at AB said it wont shrink so I opted for the slimmer fit as I prefer a tailored fit, but not too slim.  Like denim, it was super crispy when it dried but its softening up nicely.  Great shirt, love the details and construction.

I stopped by the Masterson's HQMG new HQ in downtown Los Angeles yesterday and had a great time catching up with the man behind the magic.

Here's to live-work spaces!

Machine fetishism

Lots of intriguing stuff down here

Michael cooked bacon while I poked around

In an interlude of the tour, Conehead gave me a peak at some beautiful old things he'll be showing off at Denimbro

That yoke... according to Conehead, it was so ahead of its time that it failed.

Watching Michael finish a shirt is mesmerizing

Finishing cuffs

Stitching buttonholes

Michael took the razor out of the buttonhole machine because he feels it's not precise enough; he prefers to cut every buttonhole by hand. He also waits until the buttonholes are cut to mark where buttons will be attached to the placket (rather than marking them from the pattern), as this maximizes precision.

Maniacal giggling as the button-attacher did its magic...

Yesterday (Monday), as of about 4pm, Masterson's HQMG began the process of making 30 shirts to bring to SF this weekend... beginning by creating an entirely new pattern. That's a new pattern, full size-run, and 30 shirts in 3 days! With Conehead's assistance, I think they'll make it happen!

Every new pattern begins with a Meaty Ogre

And it begins...

That fabric scrap looks pretty enticing, is that a deep blue covert?
I make things out of leather.

the weathered workshirts look pretty similar to a tender x for holding up the trousers collab shirt (couldn't find a pic)--a tender shirt that the fhutt dude (mvk190 here) distressed by putting on braces on it and suntanning it on his roof in copenhagen.

Great post dkatz!
As fate would have it I'm wearing my Mastersons Shirt whilst reading your post!

Some (overdue) detail shots of my LS-2:

I really like all the nuances of this shirt.
Not to mention that Michael is great to talk to - Not only does he make incredible shirts, but as it turns out, used to go clubbing at Fabric in London.

I doth my cap, to you sir.

The new/ Denim Bruin Shirts are sure to be very cool too.
Would love to see them first hand. You Bruin attendees are a lucky bunch.
