Thanks Maynard, your always there to put a positive spin on my rubbish attempts at a self-depreciating sense of humour
Anyway, not as interesting as Sansome's buckle-back hotpants, but hotpants nonetheless. These were bought for £2.00 simply to rob the two-horse patch. Back in the day, myself and Mrs_Heech would buy up old 501's, and if there was a tab or a patch missing, we would have no problem in finding a donor pair (usually cut-offs). So, late 1960's 'E' (69-71) (above) The bartacking on the backpocket corners and inside beltloop stitch is black, but the buttonholes are a dark olive colour (sorry about pic quality, I am using my point-and-shoot). So, that's the uninteresting pair out of the way... |

Another pair of 1960's 'E' cut offs, although these were originally a nice dark pair of 501's which I wore for years before the missus modified them for beach shorts. They cost around 30 quid in 1988 and were in one wash condition! Unfortunately I wore them when I travelled to Israel to go on Kibbutzim (Hence the iron-on numbered tags) so they died a death.
(Above) With wash and wear, the button-hole stitching has gone from purple/maroon to lilac, which contrasts beautifully with the yellow belt-loop tacking. The 'black' stitching has almost turned grey - Little personal sharing moment: Years ago, I was allergic to metals against my skin, like belt buckles etc or in this case, jeans buttons. So the Other Half kindly sows these little patches over the button backs to alleviate any discomfort whilst wearing. And uncovered to reveal the number 8 (again) |

Last pair of 501 E's, but with a V stitch. All these cut-offs were made between 1969-1971 approx.
Some more to come... |

If this was QI, the alarm bells would be ringing.
I was waiting for Mayns or Mr Black to get in first with the hot pant fit pic request Here's the next teaser, the rest will have to wait till after tea. |
