Living in and near multiple horse areas- I’ve found half a dozen 80’s and 90’s 501’s and 517’s - no wash.......with those stinking creases- prob 30% of the pants I find have them
I even found a peach colored 501 that way- imagine the fellow wearing peach colored 501’s

Thanks fellas for the great advice. The wife is warming up the iron as I type.

;o)

BTW, in another thrift shop trip today I picked up a DEADSTOCK 1970s orange tab set of Levi's. They're bell-bottomed. Not my thing, but they're new at $10 and I got the damn Levi's bug and pulled the trigger. Now I gotta find out what to do with them.

Hey Martin, did Maynard jr ever wear these, or are they still too big for him?

Still too big (I think) Charlie. He’s pretty skinny so they would just fall off him. In truth I don’t think he will wear them as he likes skinny jeans made from lightweight soft denim and wears Levi’s 510 almost exclusively. He won’t even wear the kids selvage Nudies I paid a small fortune for, think I’ll have to sell them.

Interesting you say that he prefers lightweight soft denim, as my boy will only wear soft joggers and doesn't like the inseams on jeans or trousers, say's it irritates/chafes. So the two pairs of vintage 60's wranglers, which are 27x30 and almost ready to fit him will probably be sold.
How hardy were those kids in the 40's and 50's, made to wear hidden rivet raw levis until there knees bled.

Would be nice to see more photos, before you move them on.

It’s the Nudies I’ll probably sell, not the Levi’s (well, not just yet anyway). I’ll dig them out of the bag in my eaves storage and get some more photos once spring rolls around.

You’re right about kids today though - big softees!

Hey fellas. Hoping you can help me identify another pair of 501s. Thanks again on all your wonderful help on the 52-55 501s I posted a couple pages back. I have decided to keep them a while longer, since I'm so thrilled about what you guys told me.

Anyway, I dug up an old pair of "capital E" Levis I bought in 1996 that came in a box. I forgot all about them until I posted in this thread and it jarred my memory. I collect 1950s furniture and was dressing like a rockabilly hipster when I bought those jeans, which I never wore cause apparently they were too big. I think I thought I'd have them shrink down to my size, but can't quite remember why I bought a w38 if I'm a w34.

Anyway, can you guys take a look and let me know what you know about them? I posted them in the "thrifters" thread. Thanks you!

I'll just leave this here:

Berberjin owner discussing the difference between a 1922-late 1920's 501xx and a pair made from 1930-37.
Yes l realise there's no translation but you can get the jist -

Shorter belt loops, plus concave suspender buttons, older cross-hatched fly buttons and those 'corner cut' pocket corners found on pre-22 501's.
