I have to say that the 3sixteen x Schott NYC jacket releasing has me very tempted.

To prevent the leather from drying out I always check the weather forecast for rain. If there's a chance of rain I do not wear a leather jacket.

Am I a bit too cautious?
Interested to know how many of you guys (and gals) do the same...

If it's cold and rainy I'll specifically fish out my Lost Worlds half-belt horsehide jacket, but it's chrome tanned; I've heard the gamut about veg tan jackets in rain, anywhere from beading up to soaking water like a sponge.

Here's the Lost Worlds the other day; a stiff thing to be sure, but good for inclement weather:

Ive never given it a second thought. If its wanging it down i wouldn't choose to wear a leather jacket but if it gets wet im not in the slightest bit concerned.

I guess that I think about my leather jackets like I do my footwear.
Some leather footwear is sturdy (and treated) enough to hold up to a rainy day and other leather is simply too light and absorptive to splash in the puddles.  My Westcos only come back indoors when the salt and ice threaten injury of the boots (and me).  My thin-leathered and stain-prone "girly flats" (think about a pair of summer weight dress shoes) stay inside if there's a hint of inclement weather on the horizon.
My Lewis Leather Lightning is made to go out and play in the rain.  My MF Campus jacket, not so much.
