I've always used sutocorp in the past, but lately they've gotten to be slow, not terribly responsive, and their website is a disaster, which doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.

What else is good- fromjapan? buyee?

Buyee has worked well for me; in some cases they can't bid on items though, for example if the seller has a low rating or doesn't accept bank transfers. However, that only occurs sometimes.

Sutocorp can definitely be shady at times. I've called them out on overpriced shipping a few times. They've always refunded the overcharge but it's a pain to do and they are slow about it. Buyee is nice since they always seem to have EMS or Rakuten deals/coupons

I like the people at Buyee / Tenso.

Always very responsive and helpful over e-mail. I forget which as it's ages since I've bought from abroad now but one is for buying from shops / rakuten that don't ship overseas directly, while the other for auction bidding. Used the former three times with actual purchases, the latter a couple of failed bid attempt but that was due to my capping my bid.

Caught for customs though, but then so be it.

I regularly use fromjapan. You can declare low values and gift option. They also only charge 300yen or 700yen fees per order and no paypal fees any more. They pack parcels well also.
