A place to share pictures from a time before you discovered the denim brother (and sister) hood.

This picture is from 2006-7 ish when I wore everything about 4-8 sizes too small.

there are about a million more on styleforum probably (sigh).  The denim seed had been planed though ... these are my kicking mule rockers, first pair of 'nice' jeans.

A little trip down memory lane...

I guess i've been bro-ish for many years.

This is me in 89/90 I think aged 20/21 with my then Gf (now wife) and her brother. I'm on the left. Jeans are big E's. likely to be early 60's. The shirt was my favourite- 50's original. I still have it in the loft but sadly no longer fits me. Guess it must have shrunk while in storage (ahem ;) ). May well have the jeans up there too but can't tell you what condition they're in now.

Couple of years earlier- aged 19. Can anyone help ID the jacket? It was badged US Army, lightweight Cotton/twill collared bomber jacket style. I remember them being V cheap at the time.

Similar period- I worked on a magazine as an office boy and they did an aprils fool spoof around the time when people were stealing VW signs off cars etc. We were supposed to be an east-end gang who stole door knockers.

Still have the jacket in the loft somewhere.

Smashing pics there Mr.Black - there's definitely a Travolta vibe going on in that first photo.
Love that article - you were a stylish 'Bro back then for sure.
A suitcase full of door knockers somewhere in that black hole that is your loft perchance?

Travolta vibe? That's probably just cos I was standing at the drive-in.

Have put in the 1st half of the article now.

No stylish Travolta-esque photos of me in the Heech family album unfortunately (tho' definately some Jason Donovan ones .. )

These are the best I could do (apologies for the pic overload)- as my printer/scanner is kaput - so these are point-and-shoot's of some old, well.. point and shoots:

1982, fourteen years old (those jeans wouldn't look outta place on the 'shitty denim..' thread)-

1983 - Waffle cardigan, Falmers' jeans, 'Pods' and my first BMX -

1987 - Hanging with the denim chicks, Cheltenham Art college -

1989 - With my sister and Dad (Big E's and 'Connies')

My GF in 1991 (post-war 501jeans and 506 jacket) My GF again, and still has both these items! -

1990, Jerusalem - sixties Big mac overalls -

1991, Haifa (Israel)- standard Big E redlines & Galil rifle -

1992, Boston, USA with my Dad - Old post-war 501xx's -

1992, my sister wearing my old type 2 -

1996, Cornwall, wearing 505's and original Saltrock sweat -

1997/8? New Zealand - Levis' flagship store re-issue type -2

'99/2000 First Lvc (1947's) and 'grinders' engineer boots -

2002, First ducks (Lvc)-

2004, Venice, Italy: My first Aero A-2 & '37 201xx's -

2005, standing on the spot where I built my first house (Valencia 506 and Lee 1937 'hair on hides') -

2005, Star sportwear G-1, Val. st 1955's -

2005, LEGOLAND: 1944 Lee cowboy & 1944 Lee 101b's (Despite the face, I was actually trying to stop myself from falling over the barrier!) -

2011, Goodwear Monarch M-422, Cushman sweat and RoyxCones (Proper 'Bro) -

I'll leave these up here for 24 hours for your entertainment - then remove from my photobucket account, so have a good chuckle!

All looks like the right size to me, Bob.  I'm surprised it took this long to get this thread.  I'll have to do a little archeology at the parents' place.

Expert all the way back, Mr Black.  Haha, rock out wit 'cher knock out!

I had to edit as I just got in after Heechs' avalanche.  Holy smokes!  You would be hard pressed to make it through the '80s and 90s any better (flap fly notwithstanding).  I'm glad I caught them before you take 'em down (and Redchris has a man-gina fit over the Sufu Galil pose)  There's probably no chance of a re-pose of the girlfriend in the 506 for a then and now...

Mr. Black- your jacket that you can't ID may be an A-2 Deck Jacket. I think they were 60s-80s issue, but I may be completely wrong on that. I've had a few myself, and they still are very cheap. Although the US Army marking on yours may be either an aftermarket application or mean this is something different.

Great shots Heech. Glad I saw 'em. The BMX & pods shot takes me right back, tho' I had neither. I was stuck with my elder sisters hand me down bikes. I was the only one in my gang without a cross-bar. THE SHAME!!!

Ray- the jacket definitely wasn't an A-2. It was waist length with elasticated waist & cuffs
