USAC B-3 Flying Jacket, 1937 S. F. A. D., Merino Fleece

This is our favorite Eastman B-3, now in its the 3rd incarnation of this jacket style and this time featuring Havana Brown sleeve reinforcements and trim with an overall significantly more subtle, vintage TimeWear treatment that allows the gorgeous wool to retain its full luster!

The ultimate in vintage character and appearance has been added via Eastman's hand-applied TimeWear process, so this jacket looks vintage right out of the box, which is really the most attractive form for this B-3 vs. a boldly new-looking, off-white jacket. Interestingly, the combination of the unique jacket style and the vintage TimeWear, it has been said, gives the jacket more of a western look than a military aviation appearance, making it seem more at home on the range than in the air.

We have twelve new all-cotton, flannel-twill shirts this fall from Sugar Cane in various weights and patterns and colors, plus two awesome indigo-dyed corduroys. The Warmth Series from the Fiction & Romance Collection is absolutely amazing, and even among the standard offerings we can fit a 44" chest in many styles, and in the corduroys, 46" - 48", which is a FIRST for this brand since we had some custom denim shirts made in 2004.

I've posted below several of my faves, but all of them are great and you should be able to find something you like due to the diversity of styles, fabrics, prints, and prices.  Please checkout the website to see all our shirt offerings:

Thank you for asking, Fooch!  And you're like the Amazing Kreskin, too!!!  Yes, these will be here very soon as I just put together the shipping schedule of new products and replenishing products for Toyo to ship us.  And we will only be stocking these shirts in raw, unwashed denim.

These shirts, along with other newbies, will have to be photographed and such for uploading to the website, which takes some time, but if you're in a hurry to get one, please contact the office and we can take your order now via the website or over the phone.

Questions?  Please ask.

Thank you!

Eastman Leather has recently released several new items under both the ELC and ELMC brands.  We're very excited with these new styles, with the ELMC J-100 Cafe Racer being at the top of the list.  While there is no shortage of cafe styles on the market or J-100 copies, each manufacturer does a thing or two differently on their copies of this classic style, thus they are all the same model much as all copies of a Rough Wear Clo. Co. 27752 A-2 jacket are the same thing, yet all are also going to be different as executed by each of the varied current manufactures.  And in the case of the ELMC J-100, it is not only distinctly different just by virtue of being built by a different maker, but ELMC has chosen to copy a very early version from the 1950's that incorporates some different features than what ended up on later versions of this style.

The ELMC J-100 is produced from the very same full-grain horsehide employed in their Californian jackets and outfitted with nickel-plated 1940's-style zippers, with the lining being super-hard-wearing End-Zone twill in Olive Drab as found on the Eastman Rough Wear Clo. Co. B-15 Jacket's outer shell.

The very early J-100's had no leather gussets behind the zipper closures on the forearms and had double-stitching around the pockets and at the zipper areas on the forearms; these details are captured on this ELMC rendition.

The fit will be correctly trim and best suited for those who have a chest measure at least 5" larger than their waist measure.

Presently, we are waiting a sample to arrive in my size (40R) to try on and assess, which will be followed by our first order of the size range 36-46.  Longs are available, but whether we will stock longs depends upon how the regulars measure out and fit a test market of the buying public.  And we will also deliver feedback to ELMC on the resultant fitting experiences we derive from our customers, which may or may not have any impact on future production, and which may prove to be perfect, needing no modifications.

I always measure all products personally to maintain as much consistency as possible with respect to published measures on every item we offer, so getting products in all regular sizes here quickly is vital.  Presently, there is not a full run of sizes available at Eastman to get finished measures from, so we only have measures for a size 40R as measured by ELC, but based on other ELMC items and the vintage J-100's, the measures seem to fall within the range of acceptability for this size, which are as follows:

Chest - 22"

Shoulder - 18.5"

Sleeve - 25.75"

Back length - 24.5"

Normal fluctuations in measure may exist and Eastman operates with a tolerance of +/- 0.5" on all measures.

It is reasonable to conclude that the sizing will follow a grading for sizes 36R-44R, whereby the arm length and body length will each increase by 0.5" as the sizes get larger, the shoulder width will likewise increase in total by 1" as the sizes get larger, and the chest width pit to pit will increase by 1".  Size 46 may not have an increase in lengths and shoulder width, and may increase just in the chest width by 1", but this all must be tested out here first.  It should be pointed out that the shoulder width plays a vital role in the overall shirt-sleeve length since that number is derived from adding half the shoulder width starting at center neck back, then out to the edge of the shoulder and down to the end of the wrist.  A long fitting will increase by 1" in both arm and body length.

We are now endeavoring to have the following sizes and quantities purchased and evaluated, though once measures have been posted, long fittings may be included (but longs will almost certainly not be returnable unless we are stocking such sizes; this information will be clearly stated at the time):

36R - 1

38R - 1

40R - 2

42R - 3

44R - 3

46R - 2

What we are seeking from buyers are those who will commit to post honest assessments of the jacket they receive with accompanying photos of the jacket being worn from a variety of angles and views, including closeups of details.  The assessments must include objective evaluations of fit and quality of materials and construction.  All purchases are subject to all terms that apply to new purchases as published on our website, so if you are contemplating the possibility of a return, please note the applicable conditions.  These jackets are not demonstration jackets; rather, they are new and being sold as new, so they must be received by us still in new, salable condition if they are being returned.  If the jacket is "worn" and not simply tried on, there should be no expectation of making a return for refund unless the item is determined by us to be faulty.  Since these are being sold as new, they will come with full manufacturer's warranty for which we act as your liaison.

The retail price per jacket will be $1, 295.00 plus shipping & insurance.  Our special price that applies to this promotional offer is $1, 035.00 per jacket, which is just over 20% off retail.  The promotional price applies exclusively to the 12 jackets listed herein and in the sizes and quantities of each; once we have filled the size and quantity quotas and/or the timeframe for participation has ended, the full retail price will prevail without promise of further notice, though we will attempt to make notice.  The timeframe in which to place your orders begins the moment we post here the measures for all sizes for your evaluation; the promotion ending time will be listed, too, and that time will be once the quota is reached and/or when a point in time has lapsed.  Instructions for ordering will be posted at that time, too.

Orders will be accepted on the basis of first come, first served.  If it turns out that a customer ends up needing a different size than what they received and they wish to exchange the original jacket for the same style in a different size, the promotional price will still apply as long as the original purchase jacket is returned in new condition.  The promotional pricing applies only and exclusively to the ELMC J-100 and no more than 12 jackets will receive this promotional pricing.

You are free to ask any questions now here or by contacting us at the office, but to be fair to everyone, the actual promotional ordering will begin only when the jacket measurements are posted for you to review.  We will post with at least a day advance notice that the measures will be posted and the ordering will commence for this special promotion, then the actual post will appear with measures, thus allowing ordering to commence.

We are not seeking to buy flattering reviews anymore than we expect this promotion to serve as a vehicle for those with an agenda to unjustly crucify a product and then return it.  We warmly welcome your interest and enthusiasm as it may be forthcoming.  If this promotion works as we hope and expect, we may well be inclined to offer similar promotions on new styles as they are released.  Thank you!

The originals and most copies are quite boxy and not very long in the body or arms. I've been able to pick up original 70's Lee and Levis in Longs and that extra inch or two in the torso and the arms sure makes a difference for anyone 6' or taller. Longs would be especially ideal in the larger sizes.

Charlie mentioned he would see what he could do with SC. As it is ,it may be a big push just to get 42 and larger sizes for now. Will keep fingers crossed about those longs.

Charlie, any update on a potential run of "Long" Type II jackets in the larger sizes?

Tv- I removed your post, helpful as it was, as I think posting directions to a competitor in a shops dedicated thread is likely to rile any of our retailer members.
If you would, please repost that in the SC thread.
Hugs.

Buzz Rickson's brand has brought back this rugged classic from the Great Depression for just this year, which was last offered in 2010.

This coat was originally manufactured to U. S. Army Quartermaster Corps specs. and issued to civilian workers of FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps and other similar organizations in the1930's. The design wasn't all so different from those found in the wild west of the late 1800's, thus it's not a huge surprise that a well-worn vintage example was used to outfit the legendary actor James Stewart in the 1953 western film "The Naked Spur."

We have all sizes in stock and can comfortably fit chest measures up to 46" or so. Get 'em while they last for just this one repeat offering!

New from Buzz Rickson's and just arrived in stock is this USN 1943 Hook-Front Deck Jacket. Just as with Buzz Rickson's Heavyweight, Non-Stenciled N-1 Deck Jackets, this style has been meticulously and precisely copied from vintage examples in every way, with the exception of not printing the "U. S. NAVY" text on the jacket's back. All of these Buzz Rickson deck jackets utilize the same correct heavyweight corded-cotton fabric found on the heavyweight N-1 jacket, but blue is the only color the hook-front style was originally made in, unlike the N-1. In every other way, this is a jacket style that is faithful to the original design and materials utilized. We can fit up to chest measures of 46"- 48".

Also, unlike the N-1, in this specific model the use of the fabric in so-called khaki is a fantasy since this style was only originally produced in dark blue, but the design team at Buzz Rickson's thought offering this color choice would be warmly received and we couldn't agree more. All of these Buzz Rickson deck jackets utilize the same correct heavyweight corded-cotton fabric found on the heavyweight N-1 jacket.
