Hopefully this is worthy of it's own thread.  I have a feeling I'm not the only one searching for the perfect henley.  With summer ahead, I'm looking for a good new short sleeve.

Does anyone have experience with Homespun?  It's a Canadian brand sold exclusively through J.Crew, but the quality at least appears nice:

The Merz B Schwanen 407 might be the ideal specimen, but I've yet to find it on a US webstore, and it's very $$$:

I have a few grey/green Schiesser revival Karl-Heinz henleys.  They're very nice (despite the weird panel under the back collar), but it looks like they're only making those in black/white/heather grey now:

Any other suggestions for a short sleeved natural/cream colored henley are most welcome, as well as general henley discussion, questions, recommendations, etc.

I have a Homespun and a Merz B. Schwanen, long sleeve though. The Homespun is natural color and is a good quality. The only downside is it's not tube knit so it has side seams.

The Merz is on another level. The detail of the construction is superb. They are made on true antique machinery and each different weight of material is made on a different machine. This makes each batch unique. I would bet that Unionmade will get some short sleeve ones in for the warmer weather.

I've been curious about the stuff from Choctaw Ridge so if anyone has any experience with them, please share.

I have two Homespun henleys and like them very much. A beautiful natural colour and nice texture and details.

The Merz beim Schwanen I've only seen and it looks very nice. They have one made from IIRC Egyptian cotton and it's very beautiful.

I also have a Choctaw Ridge. The one I have is a waffle fabric and thus perfect for the colder months. Stevenson Overalls have a similar very nice one.

Another good recommendation I think are the LVC henley both long and short sleeve. They're a cotton/linen mix and also in a natural colour. They're a bit thicker than the Homespun. The seller on ebay still has some LS ones:

I really like the chambray plackets on the Choctaw Ridge stuff, but they seem to only have waffle knit long sleeve.  A jersey knit short sleeve would be a definite buy if they made one.

I broke down and bought a Merz this morning.  Didn't take long.  I look forward to comparing it with Schiesser Revival.

Where'd you buy the Merz, Hollows? I'll be curious to hear your thoughts.

Tender also seems like an obvious entrant here. Can only find a picture of the Hill Side collaboration right now, though:

I have a regular ecru tender tee and llllllove it (even though it's a bit big). Every time I put it on I find myself just standing and admiring the weight, density and softness for a few moments. And I'm a sucker for the non-elastic stretchy cuffs. A Tender henley (Type 375, I believe) would certainly be on my list. Definitely pricey, though!

Also, anyone have input on the Merz 407 vs 207 vs 927

407:

207:

927:

407 is terry cloth (maybe not ideal for summer then?). 207 and 927 are both described the same as "50/1, 2 thread, 100% cotton"

Tender is a great addition, I really dig their natural dyes.

I got the last medium from here:

It says that's a 201, which is a 7/8 sleeve on the Merz site, so I don't really know what I'm getting, but it looks good, even stuffed onto that weird mannequin torso.  It feels supremely weird to spend that much on a teeshirt, so I'm really hoping it's as nice as everyone says.

It's hard for me to tell if thats the same knit as the 7/8 Schwanen I have or not but it looks heavier then what I have.  As far as the quality for the price, my levis henley was about the same price and it isn't even close to the Schwanen.  the Schwanen is far higher quality you shouldn't be disappointed.  Mine has no sideseams, turn of the century cloth cloth covered underwear buttons. and it's loopwheeled.  the levis has sideseams, is a boxy fit and has plastic buttons.  I got mine at Reveille.
