My guess is that they would have been off a pair of XX from the teens or 20's.....It could be a little earlier?

I guess the buckle is from the late 1920s, but wait for other opinions.

I'm pretty sure that i have seen this buckle on a early piece from the teens and late teens, I will have to go back and check.....I found your email the other day Dr in our spam folder....I should check that more often- did you get your answer already? I think it was the San Francisco Library where that pic came from. Good to see you made it on the site!

Thanks Michael! No answer so far, but I guess and hope the copyright is expired. I really love that picture and I keep on tryin' ;)

Regarding the buckle: I thought closed buckles were first used in the late 20's by Levis, but I'm not sure. That's of course your profession, Michael ;)

EDIT: Didn't they use those '3-piece buckles' until the mid/late 20's?
