My old trusty Lee Archive Japan 1952 denim after many years of wear. Vintage belt was a Wisconsin flea market find.

I always wonder, why can't you find genuine Lee Cowboy jackets for sale on eBay? I only see replicas. It is even difficult to see photos of those jackets. On the other hand, from time to time you can find original Levi's Type I jackets.
Weren't they successful in their time?
Does anyone know the reason?

I’ve heard this same question asked, over and over for years now. My best guess, would be a combination
Of name recognition and location....Location meaning- Lee not being so popular on the west coast, when you get away
From the dryer climate of the west coast...wet damp weather is hellish on clothing of all kinds- buildings/ barns being torn down....Still to this day, most people that are tearing down the barns and old buildings- they pile up the clothing and burn it. A month ago, a turn of the century pair of Levi’s were dug out of the trash....Most people still consider old clothing trash

As for Levi- The name recognition is there, a good deal of peeps out in the world- know that Levi’s have value, and they seem to have been preserved way more that any Lee

That’s my 2 cents

HI, I'm new here, I recently bought a vintage Lee 101J jackets and I was wondering about its date.
I collected some infos from Little's book "Vintage Denim".
The jacket has ®MR in the internal label (even though it still has the 101J writing that it seems was removed after the 1970), but it has only the ® on the pocket tag, and the ® only tag was used in the 60s and the MR was added in the 70s. There is an union tag inside the left pocket and it has the number in red that according to a post in another forum was used until about 1968 when it became black. So even though this jacket has already the MR in the inside label it could still reasonably be from late 60s, maybe there was a "transitional" period before both labels had the MR added.
Any opinion is welcome, here are a few pic:
