Shit! i always thought that the consensus around these forums was to post photo's of oneself or ones clothing for other folks to
comment Be it good or be it bad, in the words of ABBA "It's the Name of
the Game" We would be down to 1post/day if folks were only granted an
opinion if or when they were asked. Before the opinions (be them many) dude was already talking about having the sleeves shortened and loosing some weight to attain a better fit so its not like you say above, the wearer doesn't entirely like the way it fits either.

Indeed. I was expecting it to fit worse than it does. Even with it not being entirely perfect, I am extremely happy with how it fits me right now. Sleeves are such an easy fix that they are the last concern for me and I need to loose about 35lbs regardless of the jacket. I bought this jacket because I think it's the best half belt design around and the construction is the best you can possibly get in a leather jacket so I am happy to accept a slightly perfect fit that hopefully will end up being perfect in time.

agreeing: it is indeed hard to dissociate garment from fit when presented with a fit pic
& agreeing: a top piece, the back panels = astonishing... good luck with it [and an unrequested comment in the wrong thread, but meant as a compliment: amongst the high precision of dude's other jacket fits the himel fits are my personal favourites, but i have my biases, esp. towards button over zip] Edited by bartlebyyphonics - 28 Jul 2018 at 6:33am |

Thanks! I love buttons as well. Dave did do a great job nailing the measurements.

how easy is it to fix the sleeves? especially since dude seems to be very particular about his clothes? we've all heard cobblers fucking up a simple heel replacement, tailor ruining selvages in tapering? i imagine the sleeves on a freewheelers jacket would be pretty complex architecturally and perhaps uses rare og materials (threads etc)? i myself am not against modding my shit, just would like to know dude's perspective on this, since he seems to always go all out to get og/perfect everything (by his own jokey admission even his hair), how would he feel when confronted with possibilities of having to succumb to alterations?

Dude, it might speed up the stacking of the sleeves if you button the cuff to the second button. That way the jacket can't fall past your wrists.

That is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, the jacket doesn't really want to button to the second button. I'll try it again soon, but I may not be able to. Ooms. I probably won't get them shortened. My guess is that they'll stack up a decent amount, to the point where they're either perfect or slightly long. I know that former member around here, Superfluous has a person that he trusts with very high end jackets in LA. If I needed to, I would use his contact.

If need be you could try wetting it to get the button fastened but...Is it too
late to swap it for a size 40? The 42 is constructed
for somebody with an overall much larger frame, taller, wider at shoulder longer
in arms ect. Looking at the fit pics would suggest that the shoulder
seam needs lifting at least 1" to make the arms work which would
make it 2" narrower across the back. Loosing weight as you
propose will only compound the drooping shoulders/longer arms problem. I only have a narrow chest but im a larger frame and i would wear a 40 in this jacket to fit
across the shoulders/back which would then drape in the chest. I
appreciate
that you bought the 42 to fit around the chest but consider that this jacket
would easily fit a man of hollows type build, a giant of a man
