Ended up caving in and getting the Recon jacket in olive. Hope it at least has some water resistance properties. I don't expect it to be a 'shell' type jacket like what outdoor companies make, but if its at least comparable to say Barbour, I'm good.

I would assume it would be decently water resistant. Nylon does a pretty good job. Thinking about it more I think the pioneer and recon will be perfect spring/light rain jackets which is what they were designed to be. Perhaps the Winter collection will have a waterproof, taped seams foul weather coat or shell type design.

In other news the Flight Engineer showed up the other day. I pretty much haven’t taken it off. It’s a nice heavyish sateen fabric with a great cut. Lots of cool little details like the squared off hem, the rear yoke and the placket details.

Always liked that one. The denim brakeman shirt looks nice too.

I love the design of the flight engineer but not too keen on the sateen fabric. does it have a shine to it? or am I confusing it with velvet sateen?

The brakeman shirts are great. Really cool details in the build of the chest pockets. I have this Discharge printed Velveteen one from last fall.

And speaking of Velveteen

Maybe that’s the fabric your thinking of Slab? That definitely has a shine to it.

I find Cotton Sateen to have a very slight sheen to it due to the satin weave versus the plain weave of say a Chambray, but not shiny like a silk satin can be. For reference I believe traditionally m1943 and m1951 jackets were made out of cotton sateen unless I’m mistaken, which I very well could be.

Flight engineer shirt looks good A_See, I have hesitated so far on it because the green looks very bright in a lot of the shop photos.
But your photos seem a bit more toned down. Might pick one up eventually, along with the new denim Brakeman.

The engineer shirt is definitely a brighter shade of Olive than your standard OD but it’s not going into Kermit the frog territory. Some of the shops seem to take their pics from a fairly close distance with a flash. That can lead to colors being more saturated and brighter than what you’re going to see at times.
Here’s some comparison views with the Aircrew vest in Olive.

Thanks for the comparison pictures! It is a much brighter green when side by side with a more traditional OD, but by no means too Kermit-like.
Speaking of the denim Brakeman, I now see a 8 oz. denim Neal work shirt that is making me rethink which shirt I would get...

The denim Neal wins that contest for me. I think it would win even if it wasn't $40 cheaper. Tried and true fit, and I love the metal buttons.
I make things out of leather.
