Iron Horse, would you call that an LBJ hat? When I asked in a local western store a few years back, they didn't know what I was talking about (though I sometimes don't). Anyway, they didn't have any hats like that.

Jumping in here on Bryan's behalf, it's a Stetson Open Road or something close to that style. That's what LBJ wore. They still make them in various colors, felt & straw. I like the vintage ones better as they seem to have a higher crown but the new ones are pretty good.

Thanks CSL, yes BlueTrain this a Penney’s Marathon hat that’s a Stetson Open Road copy, appears to be early 1960s judging by the label inside, and is the style LBJ and Truman wore. The earliest evidence I’ve seen of one is from 1935 though, thanks to the sleuths over at Fedora Lounge:
Stetson still makes them for the ~$200 mark, though it sounds like they sometimes have QC issues and the crown is lower as CSL points out. You can also go the more custom route with makers like Tatton Baird, Wellema, Appalachia Blues, etc. |

Or you can PM me. Depending on your hat size, I probably have a vintage Stetson Open Road I can sell you.
