I have a pair of raw Levi’s (shrink to fit) jeans, I want to prevent them from bleeding on shoes and furniture and I would like them to stay as dark as possible. I'm not particularly interested in fades on raw jeans. AFAIK, the vinegar causes the dye to set. I will soak them in a bathtub with some white vinegar for cleaning and water.

But what's the ratio of white vinegar to water? Is it better to use sea salt?

Thanks.

And what does the forum think about the use of white vinegar and/or salt for this purpose? Is it an urban legend as I have read on some websites or is it really effective?

Does the vinegar or salt damage the denim? Is what we should all know for sure.
