I read Paul T’s post on Thai fakes- no mention of button numbers, I think doc has been telling me all these years that
Levi never had a 501 button number? |

Hey,
I got these this week, and obviously there are so e facts, that don't go together. Has anyone see something similar? 1. These are obviously no unwashed STFs. 2. The quality overall looks poor (check the bartacks?!), but they seem legit 3. The silver barcode tag are just for Preshrunk, aren't they? 4. It has printed 552 as factory code on it, but button is 546. 5. STF were always 501xx in this period, just Preshrunk were 501 on patch? Looks like retagged, but why should this be? Btw, found them in Europe. Please help me :) http://imgur.com/a/WP2QFrM |

I don’t think I’ve seen this wash tag configuration, the bar tag has 018 for January 1988, the right time to see the 501 in red on the tag, I’ll look at few 90’s deadstock pairs I have, I’ll see if anything else tends out- is the back of the button copper color?

Thanks for your fast reply. Here are some additional pictures
http://imgur.com/a/zfcszJv The details match, so I think, it,s not a fake in general, but at least one thing isn't how it should be. Should there be a chain stitched hem on the '80s 501? |

Another question:
The 501 from the late '70s to the very early '80s with the "care instructions inside garment" printed above the 501 on the patch, did they had plastic buttons (front side) on the fly? Got a pair, also Deadstock, everything matches, but I just wondered about this quality. |

I must say- I know nothing about plastic buttons, this sounds pretty darn fishy?

I've checked, could also be thin oxidisied aluminium. But in general not really great quality. Did you found something about the retagged '80s 501? |
