Levi with a button number 501 is a Thai fake...I’ve seen Thai fakes with button number 501- but this pair that I found the other day, when I compare it with others from the same date, the details are spot on- this doesn’t make any sense?

Few weeks ago i saw another guy share a 90s 501 with the 501stamp

The list of button codes I previously posted states 501 as a USA factory code. Why would it be a Thai fake?

USA2, 4, 6, 8, 16, 18, 23, 501, 511, 512, 515, 520, 522, 524, 524M, 525, 532, 544, 546, 546M, 552, 553, 554, 555, 558, 585, 643, 643M, 653, 777, 4170, 4420

No matter what the button states the garment could be a fake together with the button.
I have seen plenty of them in Europe. I can not tell  if they are from Thailand or from another place.

Yea I saw that, I’ve always heard that Levi didn’t have a 501 button code, it’s silly that I haven’t read it yet...Didn’t Paul T do a blog post on Thai fakes?

Mike I’ve been seeming more 80’s and 90’s Levi’s listed on yahoo auctions and eBay, can you give me an idea of what a good deal and top dollar is? Now that made in the USA LVC is no more, I think I’m going to start looking for some try vintage.

It varies depending on the market, let’s take a 1 wash mid 90’s 501 (good size) 27-36/38 waist...that’s a $75-100 pair of pants, that’s what I can flip it, to the guy who sells it in Japan.

At my vintage antique booth, I sell super faded 90’s 501’s US made and foreign for $35-45

Now small sizes go for more- someone out there is selling them to shop owners or $75-$100
Small size boys and small men sizes 25w-30w- I’m talking 501’s and 505’s....and just recently 517’s orange tab- these have caught on....The fun part for me is hunting them down for $6-18 at the thrift store....I guess the bottom line is getting them under $20 is a good deal, then there’s shipping. Hope that helps.

I see lot of jeans stamped with 501 in vintage shops here in Europe. I haven't really paid much attention to them as they seem quite recent (2000's). Often those jeans also have that white "Levi's Original 501" tag at the back of the waistband (inside).

I see that white 501 tag often, seems to first appear around the 2000-2001 time period, I found a 1 wash 2002 pant with button number 555 on it- those early ones n white 501 tag pants will be collectible in the near future- I’ll try and get some pictures up this weekend.
