When i used to stop over at my nan and grandad's house, we used to sit on the hearth in the dinning room in front of an open fire and cook toast using a toasting fork made from wrought iron, this kind of thing.. This would have been around 1980 and they didn't even have toaster (they might have had a grill over the cooker) according to my memory that was the best buttered toast in the world! |

Great stuff all around but I think I'm most impressed by a still-functioning toaster from the 70s! That's fantastic. I've never had a toaster that worked well beyond about 5 years. Very frustrating for such a seemingly-simple appliance. We put a man on the moon for pete's sake...
