I hear ya, but "my bad" isn't really a "linguistic absurdity". There's nothing absurdly (i.e. objectively) wrong with it, nor is it an absurd exaggeration. It's simply shorthand slang. You (and I) just don't like it, subjectively. Many uses of "literally", on the other hand, are literally and objectively wrong. "Reaching out" isn't necessarily wrong, but it is an absurd exaggeration that is annoyingly uncalled for.

It's totally fucking wrong. It just needs something to complete it, such as a noun. Or a compete sentence.
My bad breath.
My bad luck.
My bad dog.
My bad spelling.
My bad use of a ridiculous phrase.
My bad directions have unfortunately resulted in you taking a wrong turn and ending up
In Luxembourg. I'm dreadfully sorry.

"My bad" is "literally" wrong.

Which would imply that verbal communication requires full sentences. Now that is truly absurd.

it's a slang term. I dont think people who say "my bad" think it's proper English. Australians say tons of shit I don't understand. Get on ya? Nobody is complaining about that. Shit I still don't know what that means.

Verbal? There is no verb!
My - possessive
Bad - adjective

I think most of them do think it's proper English.

And there needn't be.

How about "my fault". Is that an absurdity?

It's obvious that "my bad" simply substitutes "bad" for "fault". It is a playful substitution, not a pompous exaggeration.
