The old style MillReef box used to say 'Made in Japan' the new box says 'Designed by MillReef in Japan'
The old pumps used to say 'Made in Japan' on the insole and in its place it now says 'Made with Pride' instead. They're the same things aren't they? surely Old New The MillReef website still claims 'Made in Japan' Edited by Double 0 Soul - 09 Feb 2017 at 2:10pm |

Nice. The Japanese bought the Buckweat brand name and copyright but even that have also gone out of business.

Thanks Blackadder, Can you share any more Buckweat info?
I read that manufacture was moved from the US to Korea in the early 2000,s but im yet to find a pair that wasn't MiA, both my pairs posted a few pages back are MiA too but they don't have the stitch through on the fox tape. |

According to the Japanese, Buckweat started making sneakers in the 40s. The Japanese bought/took over the brand in or around 2002. It became quite popular in Japan for awhile at least until 2004. Beams Japan used to stock them back then. Prices were around 30 to 40 usd. I am not sure when they stop producing those. I think those were made in Asia.
These are probably from that era same as yours. http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r101296440 The logo at the heel has the whole name Buckweat in stead of the "B" and there is no stitching at all.

I did manage to find a mint (nwt) pair of navy Lofgrens, Shredwin hooked me up with them, they should be here sometime this week.
Edit- The postman has just delivered them. Yay! Turned out the seller worked for LVC/Made & Crafted, small world eh? Edited by Double 0 Soul - 13 Feb 2017 at 2:57am |
