Pretty simple: apply brown polish to the areas that are showing tea core and black in other areas of boot. Polish to a high shine throughout.

Sorry to butt-in again, fellas. Just wanted to ask - does anyone have any experience/preferences regarding 9109 Bump Toe Last vs 9165 Standard Toe Last on the Wesco Boss ?  I will be using it to ride too, so they need to be effective on a gear shift lever...
I don't want them collapsing too much and sagging down flat over time, bit I also don't want a big bulbous Santa Claus look either...

Any thoughts and especially pictures wpuld be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Go with the Motor Patrol Toe on the Wescos. It's a perfect toe shape. It will flatten out some when the leather breaks in.

The regular Boss toe is VERY bulbous and won't break down as well.
Sell me your Mister Freedom stuff. :)

I would also suggest going with the Motor Patrol toe. Definitely ask Neil at Standard and Strange as he rides and he wears MP toe Wescos.

Long time fan of engineers and after stalking here, the review videos Jake posts on his youtube, VEBs blog, etc., I pulled the trigger today at the Viberg sample sale.

Dark, dark burgundy (sometimes look black) horsebutt with cat paw half soles and heel, welted sole, japanese brass roller buckles, and built on what I was told there was their chelsea last as opposed to the 2005 or bump toe (can't remember that no.).

They're exactly what I've been looking for (may not be everyone's taste), and the price made it a MUST BUY.

Those Vibergs look gorgeous, brotherdoug.  They have a nice, sleek silhouette and -- oh my -- the gleam on them.

So, the question is:  Are they comfy enough to allow you to get right to work on developing a close personal relationship or are they wild-eyed and bitey mustangs that will need careful patience to break in?

Either way, do keep us fellow engineer boot fans posted on your progress...

Thanks for the kind words, HP Sauce. I wore them out of the sample sale, while running all my errands, and on a walk with my dog. They didn't come off until it was time to call it a night. They're on now and I plan to wear them every day for a while to get them nice and broken in.

I will definitely post updates!

Those look great.  I have a pair of the black Chromexcel on the 2005 last.  I love the boots, and they have aged very well.  I live in Victoria, and I wish that Viberg would have a sample sale here.  They are one of the oldest running family businesses in Victoria, and I am always surprised at how few people here have heard of them.  Most people in Victoria aren't going to pay $750US  (nearly $1000 Canadian) for a pair of boots, but they might be more inclined at the sample sale prices.  They do put some of their sample boots in their local retail store, but very few of them.

just curious, i gave this topic a search but found no answers. do any of you gentlemen use boot trees as opposed to shoe trees? i have a pair of PT83 2268's and the leather has become very pliable and i thought about boot trees to give them better support when they're not on my feet...
