I own Viberg and Attractions HB engineers, both in size 8. I still need bags to put on the Vibergs after several wears and Attractions are easy with that snap. I have a rather high arch.

From reading this thread and other engineer boot threads, it seems Attractions and Lofgrens are easiest to put on? Any other brands that are easy from get go?

Got some sexy new Wesco engineers from Standard and Strange :D

The leather is epic and the brown rubber sole is something that other brands need to use more.

Review is on my blog if anyone is interested.

I second that thought, Aries.

But now I have a question for you, Johnb (and for anyone else who experiences true winter).

Up here in the Northern Hinterlands we have a phenomenon at this time of year that wandering moose love to lick and bipedal life forms hate:  Road Freaking Salt.  Everywhere.  The roads and sidewalks become one big Vichyssoise of Over-Seasoned Slush.  Great arcing plumes of the stuff created by passing trucks drown the non-alert.

Surely NYC streets, stylish though they are, do not escape such a fate.  What are your views on venturing forth into the Devil's Soup Bowl with your little beauties?  Do you sally forth into the salty brine or wait to tip-toe through the spring tulips?

Further, what happens to your thundering glories when the soup freezes over to become one big briar match without the stone or the brooms?   The Attractions may grip the eyes but surely they do not grip the icy ground...

I must know.  I simply must.

What a wonderfully poetic ramble of a ponder, HP, I feel like I’m reading Capote.

I wear my Engineer boots throughout the winter, I clean them up weekly if the salt is bad using a mix of polishes, shoe wax & a little pecard. I do have 3 or 4 pairs in rotation so that helps and generally don’t wear the same pair two days running in heavy conditions. This allows them to dry out properly. Good engineer Boots are build like tanks and can take it.

Yeah, sometimes I'm a bit of a dork with the wordology, aren't I?  It's a sure sign that I've been doing battle with less enchanting subject matter during the day.

Johnb, in the interests of not raising my engineers to be spoiled, petulant brats, I resolve to administer more salt to their (non) wounds.  Proper hosing, swabbing and ointments will follow.

Venturing out onto the giant curling rink with them will be studied for feasibility.  (Don't want the bratty boots to exact revenge by demonstrating their ability to suddenly point skyward.  That would just inspire more salty language on my part.)
