Any thoughts on the pronounce lean back of the shaft on the Role Clubs? I imagine that'll disappear with use, but it seems like most engineer shafts tend to lean forward, even when new.
(Awaits Maynard leaning shaft comments) |

Interesting how Road Champs look so different from owner to owner. I suppose it depends on the batch they are from.

I was going to say the exact same thing, mine are much darker and less tan. Some Road Champs look almost black or two tone. Great everyday boots none the less.

Give them a day or two and the Role Club boots will lean, my crooked legs will take of that. The beauty of the Olive Steerhide is that its very soft and oil rich. Thus far i'm experiencing an easy break in verses stiff Westco.

The extremely loose grain leather looks great on the road champs, and I think the same every pair I see. I think that is the only boot where that quality is seen as desirable.
My shitty, poor fitting red wing engineers have (unintentional, I gather) loose grain on the vamp of one of the boots, as well as the instep strap, and I cringe every time I look at them. I've seen a few pair of wolverine 1000 miles with this feature as well and I would never buy a pair (among other reasons). On the road champs though, it's a different story... |
