thanks for the info - that's a lot older than i'd expected. I'll check the date when i get home...

haha sooner or later Dr. i'm on a slow learning curve here. thing is if i started i would probably overdo it and people would get sick of seeing my pictures! plus i'm a real sorry photographer my camera is still on the same settings as when i bought it. i know how to turn it on, snap a pic and turn it off. if i can get off my lazy ass i'll see what i can do.

Haha, well when you do decide to get up off your lazy arse and take some pics remember this:-

This is Denimbro, a place to put pics of said items for all your 'Bro's' to marvel over.
People will never get sick of seeing the items you post, as that's our common interest (if they do, then they're in the wrong forum).
Secondly - there isn't enough true vintage/original items from 25+ years ago which are pictorally recorded/represented here, and by the sound of it by your pm's, you've got a fair bit to show us.

And lastly like you, I am no photographer - just got a point and shoot (and sometimes access to the Missus' DSLR, which i find a little complicated) - but I get by and am still on the begining of that curve.
(a tip for you - it's all about the lighting, natural light preferably, but a well lit indoor setting will suffice)

Now charge up them batteries!!

colgems - on closer inspection, i think the date is 1970: compared with the shape of the 3 elsewhere on the tag, it doesn't quite fit.

even better. it is definately older because it is numerically sized rather than S-M-L etc.. and has a DLA#. i think in 1974 they changed the spec to DSA# and have used it ever since. DLA runs 60's-early 70's. and btw Greenbrier was a prolific maker of flight jackets, field jackets etc..at one time going back at least to the B-15.

Unknown brand color #8 shell cordovan longwings I picked up at the last Rose Bowl flea market for $25 (!). They're a bit beat up, but I'm pretty stoked regardless. Only marking on them is "Travelite" on the sole. Wish I had any other info about them!

did you check looking for any light logo indents when look on the inside heels?  Sometimes on old shoes I can rock it back and forth and get the light just right that I can make out what brand they were...

good score.   I like the short lace too... makes them cool.

Had Exactly the same shoes at secondary school !!
When I was 13/14 yrs old, there was a big Mod/Ska influence back in '80-82, and 'Topman' (in the UK) catered for us all.
Think I had one pair of the brogues and at least two pairs of the box-loafer (ala 'Dance craze')
Good score dkatz!

they look like vintage florsheims to me. do an internet search on travelite i bet it was patented at one time and may yield some info. of course that could be the brand of the heel but it ought to at least help date them.
